There's nothing that pisses me off more than coming here and seeing people like, oh my god, Jim's Sports Heaven Website said we're not making the playoffs this year. Mock drafts and preseason predictions are completely inaccurate. The person who called the Dolphins to go 11-5 and to beat the Pats into the playoffs would've been laughed at last season. That person would have been right. Honestly, people are gonna continue 'hating' on the Dolphins until they prove a good 3 or 4 year run of solid schedules and playing. This isn't unexpected from the inter webs and sports "analysts" (People who make money for taking guesses and being wrong most of the time). The same honestly goes for a source saying that the Dolphins are going to go 12-4 this year. There's absolutely no way of anyone taking any guesses at this point. Especially with this regime. Every play that Sparano chooses to put Pat White in on could be a game winning touchdown. Every play that Sparano chooses to put Pennington in could be a game winning touchdown. Do yall really need to get your panties all in a bunch when Sporting News or ESPN or Jose's Sports Zone Para Espanol make a prediction about the Dolphins going like 7-9? I think not. Believe like yall did last year and with an improved team, we could find ourselves at the same spot as last year and maybe further.

Will we sink? or will we swim ?...... that is the question of the 2009 season...

i think we'll be very hard for any team to beat; and to automatically assume we won't be in the playoffs is just flat out stupid.

Speaking of getting panties in a bunch, do you need to get your panties in a bunch b/c of threads like these? You will never win this arguement. If you feel you have the right to complain about these hack NFL expert threads then those hack NFL expert thread creators have every right to run their mouths like you just did.

I agree. We could be 14-2 or 6-10. I think either would be extreme to predict, but no one knows. People have fun guessing, though, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm not saying they don't have the right I'm just saying that it seems some people take what some of these sites say as predictions as fact.

maybe further.

This was the part that messed up your otherwise solid post...with Chad Pennington at the helm, the Dolphins have gone as far as he can take them last season--namely, 9 to 11 wins off a cake schedule and getting blown out in the WC game. In the ensuing year after these performances he implodes...so if we know anything, it's that the Dolphins are not going any further in 2009 than they did in 2008.

I'm pretty sure we miss the playoffs this season. I've predicted 8 - 8. That's not going to get it done in the AFC. We're in a tough division. We face a tough schedule. The Jets are better. Tom Brady is back. That Wildcat isn't catching anyone off-gaurd this season. There's nothing wrong with a Miami fan saying that the Dolphins will more than likely miss the playoffs. It's not being a bad fan. It's called reality and having perspective. Take those aqua glasses off and put down that Kool-Aid. We still have a lot to improve on.

If it bothers people when a Miami fan says that the Dolphins aren't making the playoffs, they're the people who don't like hearing the truth. I'm not saying that we can't make the playoffs, I'm saying that it is unlikely.

But WE ARE absolutely heading in the right direction.

I don't think the Jets will be better.

Taken the wrong way. Understandable, though. I wasn't clear.

I don't know if the Jets are better than the Dolphins this season. But I do feel like the Jets will be better than they were last season—at least defensivley. Offensively, I still feel like they'll be mediocre at best. If the Jets think they throw Sanchez to the wolves and he solves all of their problems then they have another thing coming.

There's probably a reason as to why Mark Sanchez couldn't beat out John David Booty in college.

Anyone know what John David Booty is up to these days?

3rd string with the Vikings, I think.

And, I actually took it the way you meant it. I think their defense will be much better. I just think that with a rookie QB and poor WR's, their offense will be terrible. I think they were a well balanced team last year - minus Favre's turnovers.

I don't know they'll be worse. They could be better.

Don't get all fired up about it. It's always been this way and it's always going to be this way. Honestly, as a posting point it ranks right up there with;

-- Why aren't you posting on a Patriots site?! You aren't a Dolphins fan! (in response to being critical about a move or player)

if were going to go with past experience than should we pull up buddy ryan for the jets? i mean, if were going to talk about yesterday, we might as well go back to when football started........if you couldnt tell, that was sarcasism.

Yesterday doesnt matter in the NFL. the fact of the matter is we have depth at that position and the jets do not. the other fact is the dolphins are building through the draft and the jets are trading picks away like there the black plague.

who would you perfer, out of 3 choices: 1) a QB who just led there team to the playoffs(which is insultingly ironic seeing as how not a year ago you traded for a qb with just that resume), 2) a QB with 8 nfl games experience, or 3) a QB with only 16 college game experience.

Pennington succeeded in what we needed him to: a branch to the future, a mentor to the picks we took in the draft....an example of leadership.
it was just to our benefit we stomped your team to the ground on the way.

The Jets have no QB, no WR and Thomas Jones is another year older. They having a coaching staff that is based on friendships not ability. They will fight the Bills for the cellar of the AFC East.

The Jets will have a very good D this year, to bad they wont score many points to win them a lot of games.

The thing is, this is a FAN site for FANS to argue over what we think. Some people think we are in for a losing season, some a winning season, some 8-8. The fun is making a compelling argument for your case and then watching to see how reality unfurls. If I had come on this site a year ago and proclaimed that if we could just get Chad Pennington for the Phins we'd go 11-5 and win the AFC East I'd probably have been laughed at. But that is how reality worked out. Now reality may not work out in such a happy way for the Phins this year, or maybe it will. Make your arguments, shake hands, and pull up the sofa and watch the games this fall. Afterward we'll see who were the most accurate predictors. Sometimes the aqua-colored glasses are the most clear vision, sometimes not.
