If you have'nt watched them then its quite futile to post on this thread,

Here's what i came away with,

All the media reports about daunte is all a bunch of negative pontification just to sell papers.

If you read between the lines and can understand what the players and coaches are saying you will find a team that believes he's gonna be ready to go this year, they know it daunte knows it and i know it,,all this talk of daunte being cut or traded or finished is completely false,,

Trent green is an insurance policy NOT AN INDITEMENT ON DAUNTE,of course they have to protect themselves and signing trent is smart but by no means does it change the course of daunte being our QB.

DAUNTE CULPPEPER IS ON TRACK AT BEING 100 PERCENT COME TRAINING CAMP,,WHETHER HE WINS THE JOB THATS A DIFFERENT STORY BUT IF HE LOSES IT IT WON'T BE BECAUSE OF HIS KNEE,,,,

This is a team thats going to suprise people,i'am tellin the chemistry of these players is different from what i have ever seen,,theres a different energy out there, something special is cooking.

The defense could very well be the best in the league next year, the addition of porter, the switch of allen to corner and the resigning of holliday are three perfect moves to raise their level of play from last year,,,,can you imagine jt on one side porter on the other, vonnie pressurin from the inside with zack and crowder cleanin things up,,,,awesome.

We have some excellent young talent on the dline thats healthy and ready to go,, matt roth, fred evans, rod wright, and manny all are highly talented players and are ready to make an impact, our dline age is no longer a problem .

amazing to see the other players talk about the wright brothers,to actually hear manny talk was exciting,,these three dtackles are going to be fun to watch,we are loaded on the front seven.

Ricky williams is gonna play football this year for us love it or hate it deal with it,iam gonna,he's gonna be our third down back,,,let me repeat, ricky williams is gonna be our third down back!!

I got these opinions from studying the press conferences,,its easy some of you should try it before you post your opinions,i think it would change a lot of crapola on the boards.

Lastly,i don't think we will go after quinn,i do think were going to and should draft tedd ginn.

If this team starts the season with a healthy Daunte who earned the job, ricky williams as our third down back and the speed and multiple talents that ginn would bring to the offense then i'am gonna go on the record right NOW and say we will compete in the playoffs THIS YEAR.

I love your enthusiasm. But I do think that we will draft a Qb this year wether or not Daunte is ready or Green is coming in. Mueller has a history of investing in on Qbs. Go phins!

Yes your right about culpepper there just holding him out right now cause they know for sure hes gonna be 100% before training camp or the season so they want no setbacks although i do think we will draft quinn to be the future of this team.

he nevre said we wont, he said not QUINN and i do believe Ginn Jr is OUR guy.

It all leads to him honestly. If not, 2nd rounder for sure someone with speed. Besides that, our D line is in great shape if they perform and if we pull of some sneaky stuff, we can garner very high picks for evans or wright depending on whcih "IF" we want to dispose of which i hope not b/c it'll be a nice tandem especially once Holliday starts to dry up due to age or what not.

god i hope we don't draft ginn, he has bust and risk written all over him.

1st Round - I think a offensive lineman would be nice. Protect the QB. A good line can make a mediocre QB and RB look like Gods. Even if we have trade down to do it.

2nd Round - Another OL and a QB or WR. There are a lot of good WR in the draft and it makes no sense to me to burn a 1st rounder on one.

3rd Round - A DL would be nice here just to sure up on age.

As far as Daunte is concerned, I believe he will be fine. He just needed some time to heal. But, we have to protect him. If our first 3 picks were OL, I wouldn't be upset. We need to generate protection and open holes. A teams success starts an ends on the line, and on both sides of the ball.

I love your enthusiasm, but I can't read between the lines when the facts are:
1. The Dolphins are not gonna pay CPEP 6 million and watch on a stationary bike. He is such an injury risk that he would have to be willing to make a major restructure of his contract. He is totally unreliable. He said he was ready to go last year. He said he doesn't know when he'll be ready to go this year, but he won't play until he's ready. He wasn't that good prior to the knee injury. Not a good investment, right now @ 6 milliom a year. Agree?

2. As of stated over and over, our DLineman are the STRENGTH OF OUR TEAM" we don't need to draft for any this year!!!!

Zonk...

1) Cpep's contract probably won't be changed since he just signed it last year. It'll cost too much. However, if Green is acquired his contract parameters are reported to be more of "backup pay if he backs CPep, and starter if he starts. We at least won't be paying two guys starting salary. My guess would be he'd have to completely fall on his face in or before TC to get cut/traded AND whoever the rookie we draft (it's almost a certainty we will), will have to really show something in that time as well.

2) 3 time all pro QB, throwing an average of 3700 yrds a game and 26 TDs isn't good enough for you ?? I fail to see the reasonings there...

Lot of enthusiasm there, but where are you getting the info that he'll be 100% by training camp?

Dolphins | Culppeper cannot guarantee recovery by July
Sun, 15 Apr 2007 12:11:50 -0700
Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports in addition to not being ready for minicamp, <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper (knee) will not guarantee he will be ready to compete by the time the team opens training camp in late July...from kffl.

I just don't see it happening, especially in light of the second surgery needing a 4-6 month recovery timetable. New regime = new starting QB, that's how I see it.

The strength of CPEP's game is mobility ,and because of his knee, it has passed him by. At his best, 3 years ago, he would drop, run around, buy time and make plays running or passing. his longball was incredible in the Dome. At his best, Daunte had a solid supporting cast and the Dome was always a huge advantage. In 2005, prior to his injury, Daunte's play was terrible and the team played better without him. Hate to say it but if Green is not brain damaged from that concussion last year, he might be better at 37 for us than Culpepper at 30. Trent's a drop back passer with a live arm and quick decision making skills. A healthy, scramble around, CPEP is an awesome force but it didn't happen here.

I agree with your entire post, but I'm singling this paragraph out. Porter and Allen aside, just starting Bell from day one alone would have ranked our defense higher than #4 in the end last season. Now add what you posted......scary huh?

I appreciate the enthusiasm but I think it a little biased. First, DC's injury is an issue. If it weren't, he would have been on the field already. I'm not saying his career is over, but the delay with his rehab is worrisome.
Second, regarding the chemistry, we'll have to wait; it's only April.
Third, our defense was very good last year and the additon of Porter is an obvious upgrade for that postion, however, we still have some holes, and we only have to look in our own division to find the best defense in football. The Pats addition of Thomas is very scary. They went from a very good defense to one that will dominate.
Fourth, regarding our d-line, I strongly disagree that we are set. The young players you mentioned are not, in my opinion, ready to be thrown into the fire. They are very much developmental players at this point. As for Manny Wright, showing up at 345 hardly indicates that he is ready to make an impact.
Fifth, the return of Williams will be a boost to the club, no doubt. Not sure how Cam will use him, but I don't think it will be strictly as a third down back.
Sixth, I hope we don't draft Quinn or Ginn.
Last, we all know that the NFL can change drastically from year to year. Every year, there a re a few teams that will surprise. I think it is a strwetch, however, to suggest our Dolphins are playoff bound. The defense is playoff caliber, but there are a lot of questions on offense.

:dolphins:

That's exactly what David Carr said recently after he signed with the Panthers:

"The offensive line play is strong, and that's something that not only the offensive coordinator talked about when I came here, but coach Fox, too. He's all about offensive line and defensive line, and if I've learned anything over the last five years it's that that is where games are won and lost. I've been on the bad side of it, and I've seen what these guys have done the last couple of years here in terms of protecting the quarterback, and it's exciting for me."

If we sign Trent Green, draft a QB, and keep Lemon, then where does that leave Dante?

Ted Ginn should help immediately returning kicks, but he may or may not develop into an elite WR. The WR position has a very high bust rate; So many first reound picks have been flops. With all of our needs, is it a good idea to spend the #9 pick on someone may only help as a kick returner?
