good article, its nice to hear that stuff through the media. but who is to say there weren't these fiery personalities on the team the last few years. we shall find out soon what these guys can do on the field for the dolphins. other than that they're just spouting their mouths off for nothing in my opinion. on the other hand its nice to know what type of personalities BP is looking to bring in.

I think the right kind of exuberance can have a positive affect. Especially if it is backed up on the playing field.

But of course certain "livelier" players can be a negative.
So I guess it depends on the individual, and for that matter, how the individuals around him respond.

I love it. These guys won't be quitting and since they said their piece they have to back their words up and they seem to have the attitude to do it.

I think what disappoints me most about the comments in this thread is that not a single one of you even asked about the "add some salt to the pickle" line.

While there may have been some fiery cats in the Dolphin locker room, the perception to the world is that they were just very, very gracious losers. The point of the article was that maybe these three guys -- and more like them -- may raise the level of intensity of play. Grigsby's a freak. McCown essentially called out Beck meaning there will be competition for the QB spot. Competition tends to raise the level of play. And Smiley calling out Faneca, an AFC East rival...that's old school. Give no quarter...

Of course, he admitedly was Crown Royaled up but it's time to see if he'll back up the words...

We didn't say anything because the last thing you want is a pickle surprise.

Thanks guys! I fixed the link.

Pickle innuendo aside, my main question is whether or not this type of bravado has any meaningful impact on Sundays?

After watching that video, for the first time in my message board experiences I'm truly frightened.

Hold me, Hugo...

;)

Nice piece, although it leaves me a bit confused about what it is we're supposed to be. I know BP isn't the head coach and I know he won't have anything to do with the coaching and such, but at the same time everyone we sign is labeled a "BP kinda guy"!

So if these new additions are to succeed, they better do it with their mouths closed. Cause trash talkin tough guy's aren't BP's kinda guy's.

All of Bills teams have always had very vocal trash talkers. With the Giants his whole D was. WIth the Jets he had Kee on O and signed Bryan Cox to do it on D for that very purpose. I don't know what Parcells you are talking about but that post seems way off to me.
