There hasn’t been much to be happy about for the Miami Dolphins so far this season. The team sits at 1-2 and the season is on the line Sunday against the Jets. There have been plenty of players who haven’t shown up. Actually, most players haven’t shown up. If anyone is able to find Cam Wake, Olivier Vernon, or any guard, please let us know!
1- MATT DARR
Surprisingly, the Dolphins have only five three-and-outs this season. They have punted 14 times which is middle of the pack, but rank near the top in most of the other punting categories.
Matt Darr, who made the team over Pro-Bowl Punter Brandon Fields has hit the ground running with the Dolphins. His average punt of 50 yards is third in the NFL while his net gain of 45.7 is fourth in the league.
2. Rishard Matthews
It only took two offensive coordinators and four years for Rishard Matthews to finally get some snaps with the offense. To say the least, Matthews has taken advantage of his time on the field. In the first three weeks, Matthews has played 133 snags and had the second most snaps among receivers on the Dolphins in the first two weeks.
3-NDAMUKONG SUH
The Miami Dolphins defense has sucked. In the frustration of watching this live, I have found myself asking “Where is Suh!?” over and over. In reality, Suh has been dominate up front. The issue is that the lack of edge rushers and other teams using quick passes has made it seem like Suh hasn’t been the guy he was in Detroit.
Suh has been winning against double, and sometimes triple teams and since the stats don’t show that, it is often overlooked. Suh currently ranks fifth among defensive tackles on Pro Football Focus and had a +5.5 grade against the Bills. Suh has stepped up, it is time for other players to do the same.
