According to Dowell Loggains, yeah, we will see it in the Dolphins 2018 game plans.
Just so everyone is clear:

11 Personnel = 1 RB and 1 TE
12 Personnel = 1 RB and 2 TE
13 Personnel = 1 RB and 3 TE

We ran 11 personnel almost constantly last year. Since Gase has arrived, we have been dominantly a 11 personnel team. With 5 OL, 1 QB, 1 RB and 2 outside WR's, that only leaves 2 guys for the Slot and TE roles. Sure, we could run an empty backfield, but we almost never do that, nor is that common for any team in the NFL these days. Sure, we could run 4 WR's, but that's not something we have done very often.

With Jarvis Landry, we always had a slot WR, so we never ran 13 personnel. We were severely deficient at TE, with Cameron Jordan being injured in Gase's first season and Julius Thomas sucking in Gase's second season, so we were never really deep enough to run 12 personnel unless we had an extra OL masquerading as a TE. It is easy to see why we ran so much 11 personnel last year.

But this year with the drafting of Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe, we have the option for 12 personnel, and I am on record predicting that we wil see a lot more 12 personnel this season. But 13 personnel ... that's a shocker to hear!

Why spend for Wilson and Danny A if that were the case?

I think we can expect a more versatile offense this year, with multiple looks, which will allow us to be less predictable and more effective.

That's probably what the FO was aiming for this offseason. On top of adding much needed speed, we now have more flexibility on both sides of the football.

Because they will not be running a two or three TE offense on every down, but when the moment presents itself (Could happen quite a bit), they could use multiple TE offenses to their advantage...especially when one of the TEs, is a great Blocking TE, yet the two rookies can catch the ball as well as a receiver.

This is a jumbo goal line formation. Only used for 4th and short if Gase has complete trust in the rookie TEs blocking and catching

Is it possible that we see all four tight ends on the field together in some goal line situations? Gray being the designated fullback as he was in short yardage situations last season. It's crazy that you may see something like that on first down, then all of a sudden on second down you've got 4 receivers on the field and Gesicki as an h-back.

Love the versatility that we now have on both sides of the football. We're going to be a difficult team to game plan against.

Because it's not something they're going to run 50% of the time. It will be utilized in my opinion when it makes a mismatch favoring the offense. Think of it this way, it's all about flexibility and possibilities. The patriot way, BTW, is to create and take advantage of "mismatches".

Jumbo would be more like a 621 package with one eligible OL guy.

2X packages have more success. Would be interesting to see if we run any two RB packages.

This team better get themselves together NOW!

I am SO F...ing tired of being the laughing stock of the NFL and even WORSE the foot mat for the Mother F...ing F...triots.

I grew up when we beat that F...ing nothing team for like 12 years in a row.

I want to SMASH them so badly I cannot even stand it!

I am not into 9 and 7 - I want a team to be REAL and SERIOUS.

I can even take losing if you turn your opponent into a MASH unit.

Time for this team to GROW UP!

To me the big news is not that we're changing our system as much as it is that we are expanding our system. Now we will be more flexible and harder to prepare against. Defenses will only have 4 days to prepare for us and have to practice against 11, 12 and 13 looks, as well as watch film of those different looks. And, with more flexible personnel, we can line up for a 3rd and 2 from the 50, flex out both TE's and throw long against their LB heavy lineup. Or, we can stack one side and run it if they go nickel or dime expecting a pass.

For 13 personnel we likely mean Gesicki, Smythe and Gray, where Gray can shift into a FB lead blocker while Gesicki walls off backside pursuit as Smythe removes the first LB and the OL shifts to block ahead of the run. If they stack the line with LB's and big safeties, then flex out Gesicki and Gray and let the one with the LB matchup go vertical while Smythe and the RB have blitz pickup. If we do not get a guy open deep, have Smythe or the RB slip into the pattern for an open catch in the flat.

In previous years ... we couldn't adjust the play to take advantage of the defense like we will be able to do this year. We did not have those flexible guys. So we had to lean on Landry. We now have chess pieces, and Dowell Loggains is saying he will use them to exploit mismatches. I'm excited to hear it.

Ya! They better! Seriously though, it is what it is. I’m going to root for this team if they are 1-15 or 15-1, doesn’t matter, let’s hope for the best. I like what they’ve done and look more like the 10-6 team of 16’ than the 6-10 Cutlers. Go fins!
