Both Alexander and LT have better overall O's. They both have QB's that are playing better. Eli is still very young and inexperienced, but Hasselbeck (sp) and Brees aren't. Thats why my vote goes to Tiki.

Tiki Barber has got to be one of the most underrated RB in the leauge right now. The only RB's that gets the credits are Edge, LT, Alexander and Johnson. Barber is in the top 3 IMO and he should be a serious continder for the MVP this year.

Yeah, I think he deserves more attention. One of those real underrated backs in the league. Another underrated back in Curtis Martin. But I do think he is capable of being MVP, I still see guys like LT or Alexander getting the award.

IMO he is a serious candidate. So much so, I wrote this piece on him:

Tiki Barber - NFL MVP?
Giants star runner deserves consideration.

It seems the NFL MVP award discussions start up about the same time the season does in recent years. Read any opinion column in a paper or online, watch TV talk shows such as PTI or Around The Horn or listen to a radio sports show and the candidates have already being decided early on.

The all round abilities of LaDainian Tomlinson have been promoted, as has the power running and many touchdowns on Shaun Alexanders CV. Carson Palmer is having a breakthrough year for the Bengals and his name has also cropped up in the debate. Peyton Manning, the two-time MVP winner, can never be discounted also. There have been a few other candidates discussed at different points of the season though it can change depending on form. I'm not writing this piece to dismiss other players from the MVP, including those just mentioned as they are all worthy candidates but I do feel that the name of New York Giants running back Tiki Barber needs to be on the ballot.

Barber has always had the underrated tag thrown at him. In some ways, it has been deserved because he is a guy who just goes out, does his job and doesn't get the press that an LT or Alexander does but in some ways that tag has also being unfair. It stems back to people not believing he is a back capable of carrying the load. When the Giants drafted him, he was used as a 'scat-back' type, a change of pace runner who was a useful receiver out of the backfield and also a weapon on returns. It seemed the Giants had tried to get themselves another Dave Meggett who had been a player for the Giants in the early 90's who performed a role similar to the one just described.

Both Alexander and LT have better overall O's.

Currently the Seahawks have the #1 offense, San Diego is #8, & the Giants are #6 so that argument holds no water. They're all very good offenses with very good personnel.

1-Peyton Manning
2-Carson Palmer
3-Shaun Alexander
4-LaDainian Tomlinson
5-Tiki Barber

The point is, when teams gameplan to play the Seahawks or the Chargers both the QB and RB are a big part of their gameplan. Eli is still far from a threat, so my guess is when teams gameplan the Giants the foucus is on Tiki!!See the diference?? When a team has a succsessful QB, all positions on O improve, but when a team doesn't have a solid QB that cut's down on the effort needed to stop a team. One dimensonal is what the Giants are. You can't say that about the Chargers or Seahawks. So for Tiki to keep up with Alexander and LT Tiki needs to have a huge game...every game, and he does.
Just because everyone tells a player is great doesn't mean you can't do your homework and make your own decisions.

Barber should definately be in the mix along with palmer manning brady alexander and tomlinson also worthy of note is why barber never gets any mention in best back in football debates, last 3 seasons (including current)

Barber

Rushing
attempts 913 yards 4311 average 4.72 TD's 23 20+ yds 39
Receiving
catches
163 yards 1460 average 8.96 TD's 5 20+ yds 15
combined
Touches 1076 yards 5771 YPT 5.36 TD's 28 20+ yds 54

Tomlinson

Rushing
attempts 958 yards 4303 average 4.49 TD's 47 20+ yds 24
Receiving
catches 200 yards 1514 average 7.57 TD's 7 20+ yds 12
combined
Touches 1158 yards 5817 YPT 5.02 TD's 54 20+ yds 36

Alexander

Rushing
attempts 1008 yards 4799 average 4.76 TD's 54 20+ yds 37
Receiving
catches 79 yards 537 average 6.8 TD's 6 20+ yds 4
combined
Touches 1087 yards 5336 YPT 4.9 TD's 60 20+ yds 41

You can draw your own conclusions but also worthy of note is the 2003 season was very poor for barber (and the giants generaly) and puts a sizeable dent in his numbers, if taken on just last year and this year
barbers numbers stack up even more impressively i could probably throw edge james into this as well but just with these 3 its plain to see barbers numbers in yards per touch and big plays (20+ yards) are better than 2 much more heralded players as for barbers perceived fumble problem he has lost 9 in the last 3 seasons (3 the last 2 seasons) while tomlinson and alexander each have 6 (both also have 3 the last 2 seasons). Make of that what you will, enjoy :dolphins:

Palmer is the MVP IMO, turning around a dreadful franchise into a powerhouse in 2 years is really impressive.
