A few of us were discussing this last week and it looks like I may have been a little too hopeful that the rest would do him well enough to return next year.

I checked into things a little further and found out that it's not likely that he will return mainly due to his "off field habits".....not sure what exactly that means but, that's what I was told

It's a little dissappointing because he could have been a hell of a part timer on the D-line next year and I was looking forward to seeing him out there again.

off-field habits...well im guessing too many buffet lines.

I think Larry Chester coming back is alot more likely then Tim Bowens coming back. Timbo's injury was repeatedly described as career threatening. There was some noise about Chester not coming back, and he said he'd be ready for the season opener and that's all we heard about it.

I wonder what happened all with that.

Has anyone heard anything about Larry Chester? He was always a strong guy and a plugger... He should knee should be healed by now, and he was in TC that gives him a jumpstart on learning the system...

at dt there isn't much 'system' to learn...what they do is very important yes, but it doesn't take a genious to figure out how they do it.

That'd be my guess too....and probably not enough time on the stationary bike either.

I assumed both Bowens and Chester to be retired. Bowens moreso. I wouldn't mind seeing TimBo come back for the one day signing/retirement thing and then maybe see if he wants to stick around and help the young guys. I am a big advocate of having recently retired players play the rols of a coach. They can still connect with the young guys about playing yet have seen enough to know how to handle almost any situation.

The Chester one was wierd. He got injured, said he would play again, got the buyout and vanished. I just assumed he retired.

At this point, do we really want either back? Maybe Bowens but it was pretty obvious his career was coming to a close. I think Manny Wright is a pretty ideal backup to Traylor.

Here's a Christmas card I got from Larry and Tim. Tim was always a little taller than Larry....

I really like Tim and Larry but right now I'd rather have Holliday and Traylor back.

I am actually excited about the future at the DT position with Manny Wright and Kevin Vickerson. Vickerson was doing really well before he got hurt in preseason. I think the Dolphins need to add another stud pass rusher at DE more than anything since Jason Taylor is getting up there in age.

Off the field habits include, Mckydees, visits with the king (BK), and of course a few to many lap dances at Tootsies. ;)

He could help his reputation a little by walking from Burger King to MacDonalds instead of driving his SUV across the street. :D

Too bad. The thought of him and Traylor in on running downs gives me tingles.

The tingles come with the BK Value Meals that Bowens has eatened of late.

BK Employee: "May I take your order?"
Bowens: "I would like the No. 10 Value Meal."
BK Employee: "We only have up to No. 4."
Bowens: "No. 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10. I would like a No. 10".
BK Employee: "Would you like a Diet Coke with that?"
