Tim Bowens--"You don't want this smoke."

I remember watching a game when I was young and dumb(er) and the announcers mentioning one of them missing the game due to back spasms.

I was like WTH? Work it loose and get in there.

30 plus years and a L5S1 herniation later and I can barely stand up straight at times let alone imagine playing a NFL game. 300lbs and back injuries are bad news.
Ouch!

I used to have L4 go out quite a bit. Would shut me down for days, sometimes weeks with multiple trips to the chiropractor.

Got into yoga about 9 years ago and hasn't happened since.

Turned out it was mostly my glutes getting tight from volleyball, mountain hiking, trail running, etc., I was a tight ass!

Timbo and Gardener were the best DT duo we've ever had-- just excellent players...

...and I want to point this out for a reason.

BOTH of them had their careers derailed early because of back issues. Remember this when you see an available player who has a back issue... and stay away! Great players quickly morph into retired players when back issues strike.

Great point.

Gardner was a beast too and had substantially bigger back problems that TimBo.

TimBo is a boss!

If you or anyone who knows you reads this, let it be known you are well loved by Dolfans brother!

Tim Bowens had a fantastic game in the Meadowlands during his rookie season in 1994.

Yes— that Jets game.
I was going to post about this but you beat me to it. On 2 or 3 (it may have been 3 which is insane), he bowled the center backward into the QB as the ball was snapped - causing fumbles on both plays. I believe the Jets fumbles on 3 consecutive plays there due to Bowens and wound up in like a 4th and 40 situation as they kept recovering their miscues. Bowen’s power and quickness on that drive stood out as special. What he showed there you just don’t see very often. Helluva player

I didn't realize how much he meant until he was done. Him and Gardener made a hell of a duo in their prime.
That defensive line with them, Taylor, and Armstrong were amazing.

I remember an interview once where some team members were asked who on the team would they want protecting them or fighting along side them on an alley fight and everyone said Bowens. They said he was scary when he was fired up.
