So the argument against Tim Tebow being a great NFL QB is that running QBs cannot compete against the fast NFL linebackers and quick/strong NFL line-men.

However, maybe coaches were too scared to stray away from NFL norms to tailor an offense around such a player correctly. I think this is why so many good running QBs failed.

I am by no means saying that we can stick someone like Tim Tebow in Ronnie Brown's shoes and expect him to run the current wildcat as efficiently... but has the trifecta shown that some of these college plays CAN work in the NFL with the right personnel!!!

In my own personal opinion, I'd like to address much of our remaining issues in free agency and trade some picks up to get Tebow. I'm tired of all the so called "experts" (including some of you on this board) claiming a superiority in football know-how simply by sticking to the old tried and true way of doing things. I'm tired of the old stuff, its boring! You can be creative and win!

I'd love to see a running QB in the NFL work in something like the wild-cat and not just be placed in the same old pocket QB formations with some running wrinkles. Its time to break the mold with a whole new offense.... WHY NOT?

Lastly, for those of you that will first say that Tebow IS NO WHER NEAR the runner Brown is--I give you that, completely! However, Ronnie is nowhere near the passer Tebow is... that would REALLY open up the third dimention of this OPTION offense we now have.

Thoughts?

Tebow's footwork and throwing mechanics suck....That's another
reason.

YES!! Let's draft a QB high for the 3rd straight year! forget that Henne has looked very good and seems to have the potential to be the QB of the future!! Let's throw all our picks at another rookie QB!!

The difference between Ronnie and Tebow though is that Ronnie is a runner and he knows how to patiently wait for holes and when to bounce outside and stuff like that. Tebow will always be a QB that is a skilled runner. However, for the wildcat formation I think you need a great RB that also has a small passing threat. Tebow is not that. Whichever team he goes to, they can form their own wildcat but they must make it a little different because he is just much different than Ronnie.

Tebow will be drafted and if he lands in a good system like Jags(type Offense) etc.. He just might be ok. If not as Dirk said above, he will make a decent TE in the NFL. Their is no denying that he may not be the strongest Armed QB or Fastest QB ever. But the guy is a playmaker, you cant teach or coach that into a player. I hope he does well and proves alot of people wrong. And no, before anyone says it, I am not a Gator Fan, 100% Cane Fan here, but I enjoy watching Tebow play, hes fun, exciting and plays beyond his means all game.

Tebow will make a hell of a Tight end or Running Back. he will not be a qb in the NFL
not a regular qb but a pretty good wrinkle guy... dont think he'll be a top pick unless someone gets the matt jones syndrome draft day

im a gators fan and i've seen tebow from his freshman year to his junior year currently. The kid has great arm strength but he depends on that too much. I've seen a lot of passes thrown as ducks. his accuracy is also something that needs to fixed as seen in the ole miss game when he over threw his receivers twice back to back when they had at least two steps on defenders. in this situation they missed game winning td's. his throwing mechanics (as mentioned) need to be tweaked. His delivery of the football is still raw and seems like a 5yo kid throwing the ball around in the yard i have to say at least 15% of his balls come out as ducks and in the NFL level this just spells disaster. Although i love meyer and his style of offense i don't think its good for Tebow in a sense that he hasn't been able to extend his skills to become a complete qb. Not too mention his running ability is horrendous. granted he has enough speed to build up some hitting power he has no where enough speed to out run or juke on coming defenders. when facing a faster pass rush he gets ancy and doesn't stay composed. He relies on his physical talents more so than skills (tebow vs. pennington). If he was drafted by the right coaching staff i see the kid having an illustrious career in the NFL. If not he'll be a overrated backup. even with all this i see him going top ten next year's draft (if he elects to come out)

Running QBs tend to get hurt. They make too much money to take those kinds of hits. Besides, we have Pennington and Henne on the roster so I'd say we're too solid at QB to pick up another one with a draft pick when we have other needs.

I think we should draft a QB!!!

You think Beck is going to give Henne a run for his money??? Please. Sorry, but in case over the next 2-3 years Penny is injured or starts to (I hope unlikely) go downhill.... I DON'T WANT TO GIVE THE STARTING JOB TO A KID THAT DIDN'T EARN IT!

I say we cut our losses and get rid of Beck who will now be like 30 if Penny lasts 2-3 more years. We draft another young QB THIS YEAR who can also grow under Penny... and we have a real contest for the QB of the future. NOT BEING READY with a great QB when Dan left was half the reason that the slump began.

Don't remember? We had to choose between Fiedler and Huard?! Sorry, but I don't want to choose between Beck and a young kid who's yet to play.

Bring in someone to either give Henne a run for his money or someone who can beat him out of the job. Do it now so we can groom him while Penny is still around!

Tebow may be overrated when there are studs like Stafford and Daniels (whether either of them suit the Fins or the pro game EITHER is another debate).

More than that though, with all the running in the NFL, what would a team do who's built their offense around him should he go down???

This guy's "at liberty," a freebie, and probably a better option (literally) when running the wildcat. With the way the Colts are stinking it up, maybe they'll reconsider cutting him, eh? :

Call me naive, but I think the QB position is under control in Miami for the near future. Pennington is better than a lot of us expected and will allow us to groom Henne. We may draft a day 2 QB in the next few drafts, but I don't think any high draft picks will be going into the position any time soon.

I don't know if drafting another QB is the wrong depending on the QB that is available and where the pick would fall. I just don't want it to be Tebow......

couldnt agree more. despite the fact they had a decent day against the chargers our secondary is weak and should get some attention in the draft as well as getting some depth at the lb positon and wr too. we have bigger immediate needs then qb and we havent even seen what henne is going to do when he gets the balls yet.

I think the Wildcat is run first. They are going to run at least 90% of the time. They know its probably a run coming and its still difficult to stop. Its so easy for Ronnie to just go somewhere else if the gap he is suppose to go through isn't there.
