After the Jets ripped over 200+ yards rushing in the first half, the D started using that 5-2 package with wake starks mitchell odrick and vernon/jordan...sometimes vernon/jordan would stand up as LBs making it kinda like a 4/3 Over look....but it seemed to work well on obvious running downs/situations...think we will see more of this?

either we gotta do something different or our regular D line has to step it up and stop getting blocked into oblivion...and whats up with our tackling? jesus H F*cking christ we still suck at tackling...master the basics and the fundamentals guys, everything else will work itself out

saw that in short yardage...made a difference...sure would expect to see more of it...but i would also expect to see more base 3 lb looks on early downs to offset power sets single back or i form and 2 wr etc

i think miami can fix this but the dc is gonna have to be on it with personnel

The way we've been playing the run and with the ravens coming to town we might need the 5-5-1 defense to stop them.

I saw 5 linemen a few times, but I mostly saw 4 linemen, with 3 LB's and a often a safety lining up in a 4th LB spot. Almost like a 4-4-3.

after the first quarter you did...and that was the difference...about after 200 yards the dc decided he had had enough and got the right personnel on the field...and once the des stayed home vs the end around action etc it was curtains for that offense

would have been from the jump had the dc gone in with the right personnel

I thought for sure that it'd be used alot against the jest.

The (irony of using the) Bear front against Rex would be priceless.

But in the 2nd half the jets ran for 3.7 ypc which might sound low but with 8 guys in the box and not having to worry about the pass that is bad. Keep blaming coaches all you want but this is more than just coaching.

missed tackles and coaching...it in a nut shell...but we weren't getting bludgeoned by them in the 2nd half...3 lbs on the field and the 5-2 in short yardage is what stopped the bleeding

I could be wrong but what I saw there was more of a Cover 1 Free with Jones playing the run almost exclusively and even Delmas playing more of a middle zone than a deep one. I guess it's basically no different though than what you're describing.

And as Hooshoops and others mentioned, tackling was just atrocious in the first half and stunting our DE's was not a good move vs their pulling lineman.

We could stack the box against the Jets because there was no fear of their recievers. We felt like our guys could cover them 1 on 1.

Thats not the case against the Ravens where "insert corner here" will have to cover either Steve Smith or Torrey Smith. They are going to destroy that guy.

Kinda worried...
