Before I even begin, I will say this:

I AGREE WITH YOU.

What does that mean? That means when I sat on my couch during the ninth pick, with a handful of my own hair having long been removed from the stress of watching Quinn careen from pick after pick to us, as if guided by divine destiny, delivered unto us from the football gods by the spirit of St. Dan himself, I had the same reaction that you did when I heard the name of Ted Ginn Jr uttered. First I felt like I might throw up, right where I sat. Then that initial burst of anger hit, and I threw some stuff. Some things broke, and some did not, but I didn't notice as I was busy stomping around and yelling obscenities. After all that I spent a few minutes explaining to my wife why I was all pale and beet red at the same time, and a few more staring into my closet at my jerseys, considering whether I should burn them in effigy (they survived). I steamed about the Phins form many an hour before I finally came to an epiphany: 1. I obviously love the Phins too much to give up on them, and 2. There must be a reason; a silver lining if you will. I spent some time thinking about our first few picks, and I came away with this:

(1.) Ted Ginn jr.: Of all the things said about this guy, one thing consistently comes up: He is a TRUE playmaker, a guy who may single-handedly swing a few games for us. His sheer speed and elusiveness put him in a GameBreaker class with Devin Hester and Reggie Bush. His speed and vision will instantly put us in better field position after kickoffs and punt returns. His speed automatically will draw defenders away from Chambers and out of the box for Brown. The corner will automatically have to line up deeper, and safeties will subconsciously cheat to his side as to not get torched.

(2.) John Beck: Rumors are abound that several NFL scouts had Beck rated near or above Quinn. Whether they are true or not, there is a reason Quinn took an Aaron Rogers like fall. But what we do know is Beck is a Cameron type guy. Smart, even under pressure, the guy is a true leader. He has a strong arm, and is accurate, even when he gets hit in the mouth; something Quinn was not known for. His big knock? Beck will be 26 this year. Kinda old for a rookie, but this is not all a bad thing. He will be more mature than most brand new QBs in the NFL, and hopefully this means he will be ready to start sooner rather than later. The reason the guy is such a late entrant is he spent a few years on an religious endeavor, so its not like he has a lot of mileage on him; don't forget another BYU QB got a late start in the NFL, this particular individual was 30 before he became a full time starter. His name? Steve Young. If you are not familiar with him, you can find his likeness in a small building in Canton, OH...

So that is my little rant. Now that I have calmed down an actually THOUGHT about what we did, I found that I am not so upset after all.

And to those of you who are :boohoo: and threatening to quit: Here, I got you a straw... Now you can suck it up, and press on. We have a gamebreaker and a future starting QB. Its time to open up and welcome the newest Dolphins.
:bighug:

first off....I feel your pain. I threw a couple of things and almosted wanted to dis-own the fins after bi-passing Brady Quinn. I still feel we reached for Ginn but no one can say the guy is not a playmaker when healthy. I feel we need to give Cameron and Mueller the benefit of the doubt and hope both Ginn and Beck become productive and successful NFL players. If those two guys become starters and are productive everyone whining today will think Mueller and Cam are true genius'es.....bottom line everyone wanted the big name guy....including me! I guess time will tell!

the Bears were a good team, and could afford to spend a second round pick on a one-dimensional player. NO filled its QB void with the guy WE SHOULD'VE PICKED UP, Drew Brees, freeing them to take a gamble on BPA Bush (who also filled a need as a speed back). We needed a QB, OL, or DB. Instead we got a #2 WR and special teamer.

The Dolphins are not a very good team right now, which is why they are picking #9. Cpep is not the answer, and Trent Green is a 2-3 year fix at best.

Cam talks like we're one step away from the SuperBowl, when we finished last in the division. We're not knocking on the door of "elite status", we're closer to knocking on the door of "worst in the league." It absolutely pains me to say that, but its pretty clear.

Re Young: he was drafted in 1984 (not exactly recent). the last BYU QB I can recall is Ty Detmer, who was a Heisman winner and career underachiever. Detmer had numbers wildly inflated by the BYU offense, and while Beck's weren't enough to get him the Heisman, they are a product of the system.

my girlfriend and I were arguing and when the Commish said Ted Ginn Jr. I said one thing to her and I showed her the door....im a single man now...all thanks to Cameron
