I have to feel bad for those dolphins fans that drank heavily out of the kool-aid pitcher that had last years left-overs in it and cannot see the reality of this team. It is one thing to be excited about the team and to follow them. I agree about doing that. However, if you have been a fan long enough, you can see right through the BS and know we have some work that needs to be done on both sides of the ball before we are going to be a legit contender.

So this is the same song and dance all year long. The gaping weaknesses of this team come full circle. Nothing new to see here. No reason to cry about not going to the playoffs when in reality the playoffs were like that mountain in the horizon that you keep seeing but never quite get to. Control our own destiny you say? Right, that would require other teams to do some dirty work for us. Denver beating the giants pretty much sealed our fate as far as I am concerned. Even if we did win out and went 11-5, our chances would be slim if NE won the division (face the facts that they are much better than us right now). Our remaining schedule past the bills is BRUTAL as it has been all year long.

So, the foundation as far as I am concerned is in place but the real problem is the loss of brown really has had a pretty profound effect on this team. Sure ricky had a great game against the bills and panthers but he isn't the guy IMO that can carry the ball 25 times a game anymore. Our wideouts have been the same thing all year long...inconsistent is the word I can think of. No guy that really wants to step up and take control as a number one wideout. That is fine as none of them have the skill-set or body dimensions to be that guy. Our linebackers are hit and miss and most of them are not worthy of starting. The secondary is young and inexperienced and our safety play needs to be upgraded. Again, nothing new here.

Now everyone can go and put the blame on Henne and call for thigpen or whomever you want. Time to focus on the continued maturation of Henne and the rest of the young guys and look forward to the offseason and draft. This offseason, in my eyes, is one of the most important ones we have had in a long time.

I do think ricky is fine. But everything you said was right on. I'm not mad or suprised by the outcome of this game. We've had the same holes since the kickoff in atlanta. Penny couldn't do much with those wideouts and the atl wrs ran free through the secondary. Support your team and wait till the offseason.

Injuries have really damaged our fins this year. I do like Henne and Ricky but without Ronnie and Ferguson we are forced to change from plan A too plan C.
As they say in Russia, tough ****ski!

Why does everyone feel it's necessary to start these "Reality" type threads. I think deep down every Dolphins fan knows what the team is. It's fun to at least be in playoff contention even if getting there is a stretch. Anybody who thought we would go into Buffalo with this team and dominate needs their heads examined. We dominate physically at times and we did today but we don't have the parts to dominate any game where it counts the most, the scoreboard. When we play well it's solid hard nose blocking, long grueling drives but not necessarily any points. This was emphasized the the NE game. We came out of halftime and put together a 9 minute grueling TD drive to take the lead only to see Brady stroll out and take the lead back in under 2 minutes. We need the ability for explosive plays on offense.

I hate the reality check at this point. This team did not fight in the 4th quarter. That's a mentality problem not a talent one

Every coach, every fan knows that these are the games you worry about... When you stroll into a struggling team's yard, with a big game the following week.

Mental lapses, mistakes and lack of effort abound when teams get caught looking at the opposition record instead of taking it week to week.

It's easy to face a tough team... Get up for it... and play well above your head... Today that was the Bills.

Just people needed to temper expectations from Game 1. I thought MIA coming into this year would be a better team, but not a team with a better record.

MIA still has stop gap players through out its roster that still need to be addressed. NT, ILB/OLB and S are needed in a sore way. Offense...WR and TE. All those needs were known to some here before the season started. People thought Gerbil was the answer, even though it was said early on that he and Bell were identical in skill set and position. Chowder what can be said of him? I have been one of his hugest critics this year. He runs around with his head chopped off and then laughs and jokes around like **** is funny.

Throw in WR and TE. Fasano disappeared in stretches at a time last year. He was decent, but he isn't the answer. And WR....when Camarillo can come back from a ACL and be at one point the most consistent, the team is in trouble.

I can say I have been very happy w/ the progression of the OLINE and Henne. As for DEF, very happy with the progression of MIA's DE's and Davis at CB. I was initially upset with his pick, but his physicality and eventually his mental game will make for a excellent CB for years to come.

Lack of quality depth and talent throughout is killing this team. We just need more talent...bring on the offseason and free agency and the draft...We need to really hit on everyone this time.

Yep agree with you on most... We are in a weird spot right now... Lots of youth and lots of vets... Very few players PEAKING RIGHT NOW and not enough depth.

Outside of Starks, who can we say is playing their best football RIGHT NOW? We see potential in the kids and flashes from the vets but very little day in and day out...

At some point we are going to have to stop taking chances on the 'projects'... Whether it be plundering other teams practice squads... or taking a flyer on vets... This regime needs to get more talent playing in their prime and that means we will have to pay a price...

If there is one word to describe this team, these players, this Coaching staff right now I would say it is... INCONSISTENT.

That's what you get smack in the middle of a rebuild...

When Parcells showed up he signed originally for 4 years. Publications I read said MIA got intoxicated with winning and would come down this year. Why? Because MIA could only fill so many holes while turning over the roster.

This is year 2 of a 4 year plan. Its really that simple.

No question it has been a lack of talent... that they needed to completely overhaul the roster... Which they are doing... Unfortunately not fast enough for most!

truthfully though, If they hold any aspiration at winning in the short term they need guys who are peaking now... Whether it costs, picks, players or cash... If you want to have any hope of competing you need guys who are playing consistently at a high level.

It is no coincidence that so MANy of last years draft class are getting significant minutes... We had an absolute ton of holes...
