I'm thinking that this has to be the year Saban needs to refuel core of team..and we need some draft picks to do it...

David Bowens....Selected matt Roth last year and have some cheap great veterans such as Carter and JT to start..Bowens I think increased his trade value with 7 sacks without starting..Feel he might be worth a 3rd rounder. Makes no sense to keep him, we have DE covered and his worth can get us younger at other places.

Booker....Too high of price for age with good options out there...still should get maybe a 3rd or 4th for him

Madison...cap cut....so maybe nothing....should try to shop him around for a 5th or 6th rounder

Ricky Williams....would love to keep him, but need to bolster other positions...he cheap keep him unless we can get a mid to high second rounder, but have no idea what his worth will be due to the fact that he is unpredictable Ricky Williams

can not see us trading up (see value chart) it would be too costly with so many needs, remember we need to start getting future replacements for JT, Zack, etc.

Would not like to see us trade down unwisely to garner more picks, Cutler, Huff, OT at 16th, hey we need some 1st rounder talent on this team.

Any other players that may have some trade value I missed?

I do believe Saban will have a few surprise trades for us. Anyway just wondering what anyone else thinks about trying to get younger this year and still be competitive for a playoff spot.;)

Teams don't trade that many players a year and Bowens is useful. Booker and Ricky are the only trade options the Fins have.

In these days I would highly doubt anyone would trade a pick for any of those guys. Moreover if you look at the Parcells model (Billy B too) its bring in vets who fit your mold and draft well, not trade your vets for picks. I am sure if we could get a 3rd for either Booker or Bowens they would but my guess is they would not get a 5th, prob nada.

Last time I checked JT was one of the higher paid De's in the league and Carter has a 5 year 30 million contract which is far from a bargain.

Point here was more that we have vets and invested a 2nd rounder last year in youth at DE, that Bowens was to me expendable and with 7 sacks in limited playing time has value. sorry to confuse the issue.

i almost have a feeling we did alot of that last year, this year will be the finnishing touches, but nothing completely drastic

I print out the depth chart and I see a lot of old starters and then look who behind them and see not many future starters on the team. Looking at all wanny's drafts we are way behind in developing players and saban brought in so many temp fixes. Just what I see.

David Bowens is JT's only back up. Right now he is the only player on the team other than JT who can play that position. He did a great job last year. Why get rid of such a good back up when you can keep him?

i've said this befor here... trade jt and zach.... they are worth 2nd rounders at this point but they only have about 1 year left befor its time for a walker

Teams value their picks too much to be trading for guys like booker and bowens. We trade probably one of the top 5 CB last year if not def top 10 for a mid second rounder not even a first. So people please stop saying we would get a 3rd for Booker or Bowens when we wont, its not gonna happen!

Don't totally disagree with that either, just hate seeing them go:cry:

Assuming that you are right and both can be expected to play only one more year at a high level; what team is going to give up a 2nd round draft pick for a player who will only be effective for one year? Sorry that makes no sense.
