I have read quite a few people on here saying that maybe we should look to upgrade Zach Thomas and how he has lost a step. Well, that's pretty bad to say about a guy that is leading the NFL in tackles this season with 50, and not to mention has an INT. Yes I know he isn't the fastest and most physically gifted MLB in the NFL, but he is in the right place most of the time. I don't disagree in drafting a young LB that in 2 years or so can step in and take his place, but right now, our best bet for the rest of the season and next is Thomas.

Thomas is here to stay and he will and should stay here until he's ready to retire. He's a Fin for life. We can bring in young LB's in from the draft and hope they can learn from the best in the business (which guys like Crowder and Pope have). Especially when his greatest asset is his mentality and awareness on the field, which is what many young LB's lack. I don't think any team GM out there won't snap up Zach in a heartbeat if the fins are so stupid as to cut him.

Whoever thinks we should "upgrade" over Thomas needs a reality check. Just who would we sign that would be better and affordable? Zach is still a very good LB

There aren't many Zach Thomas haters on this board. Kind of a silly thread.

No one hates zach, try not to generalize a very small minority, your giving that handful of people a voice by acknowledging their pathetic acessment of him.

he is very good but we can find a way to upgrade. he isn't the FULL PACKAGE so that means theres always room to upgrade. What are the odds we get a vilma type LB? NOT VERY GOOD. hence we get a MLB that can groom before ZT leavse so we konw if we need another guy or this guy can step in or if CC goes into MLB and we draft an OLB instead. ZT is VERY good but theres always room to improve in every position unless your Ed Reed or Champ Bailey. loll

I didn't know there are Zach haters, except on the other 31 teams. There are a few guys that should retire Phins, ZT is one of them. He is still wanna the best MLB's in the league.

Zach Thomas is a warrior and we as Dolphin fans owe him a lot of gratitude for the great play he has given us over the years. For an undersized guy who many people thought wouldn't survive in the NFL he has been a tremendous bright spot for our team for the last decade. The guy has smarts, drive, toughness and is just a damn good football player. I am glad that Zach is a Miami Dolphin and yes he needs to retire a Dolphin and be put in the Dolphins ring of honor!!!!

No one "hates" Zach around here but the fact is he is getting up there in age. He's a great linebacker no doubt about and will be in Canton some day but the way the defense is going he might not be an ideal fit. He's a warrior and one of the greatest to ever put on a Phins uni but bringing in some young guys for the future might not be such a bad idea.

i love thomas, but his decline is becomg evident. its made worse by the fact that spragan pretty much stinks and crowder is yet to much. he hits hard on the run but seems always out of position in coverage...just far enough away to not make the play

OL and LB are the biggest needs

He gets a lot of tackles but he is a liability in coverage. He is no longer an elite LB imo and is becoming overrated. He's still a good player, but he isnt great and he isnt cheap.

Zach Thomas hater? Who's a Zach Thomas hater? I haven't seen any around here that I can recall. Whoever they are they need a good punch in the stomach. He may be on the decline but he's still got plenty left in the tank. And he'll be a solid linebacker until we can fix ALL of the glaring holes on this team. By then, we'll then have to look to upgrade from Thomas as he will be older, slower, and not nearly as effective. Right now? Least of our problems.

SO TRUE. Man people got nothing better to do then write bs like that

What I was really excited about was young linebackers learning from Thomas and Seau. Seau is gone but at least Thomas is still here. You would have to think Thomas could teach up players quite well seeing how this guy never relied on speed or athleticism and is all smarts and heart.

I hope we can get a large influx of linebackers over these next two years.
