I've seen a lot of threads talking about how great we are going to be this year. They have pointed out how everyone is picking us to win the division and even go to the Super Bowl. Some of us have been skeptical and I think rightfully so.

Its just too hard to forget all those years with Wanny where we had good teams and just fell short. Those years have made me skeptical. Right now, we are 0-0. The only thing we should be worrying about is Pittsburg. I know its fun to speculate and wonder if we can really have a home game in the Super Bowl. But lets not get carried away.

A quote I've always liked is, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man." I know Rick Flair said it a lot, so I'll credit him with it. But I think it holds true. Until we actually beat the Patriots and win the division, they are 'the man'. It doesn't matter what we look like on paper. We gotta go out there, beat the Pats, and only then can we be 'the man'.

You're right. But I predict that we will beat the man, therefore, we already are the men! Right?

We gotta actually do it first. 'The man' doesn't earn that title by a concensus of speculation.

I dont believe in that in football

Things change so drastically year to year that what you have done last year doesnt matter, The Packers went from a serious contendor to a joke, if you lose players you will lose games most likely.

But the Pats have done it for how many years in a row now? And they obviously didn't loose a lot of important players. If anything, they are getting important guys like Matt Light and Rodney Harrison back from injuries.

Their #1 WR at this point is Reche Caldwell, They have a shortage of LBs a really weak secondary, Harrison will make it worse by being a liability in pass coverage and being even slower than before (is that possible?) coming off a knee injury, and no Adam V to bail them out

Last year was the first slip down the pipe for them, this year will be the next (they make the playoffs as a wildcard) then the final stone crumbles and they are out of the picture and in rebuilding mode

I certainly hope so. We can't know until it actually happens.

Hate that quote. We already did beat them, remember the last game of last year? In fact, we've beaten them every year they've won the SB. If I look at the Dolphins and see a better team then the Patriots (and I do), there's no chance in hell I wait until the end of the season to proclaim it. :dolphins:

I hear you, but we didn't really beat the Pats last year, we beat their second string. And almost couldn't do that. Until we beat the Pats, they are the man. I hate them, and really want to beat them, but you can't take away their titles with homerisms.

And then we can use Bill Goldberg's... WHO'S NEXT?
take them one at a time and play for sixty minutes to win..
Advice that takes a licking and keeps on ticking....

It's a shame, but we will ALWAYS hear that they were playing their second stringers, and then Doug Flutie kicked that punt...aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh..
Yes we have to beat them in the ground like we beat Buffalo over and over years ago until we are recognized as THE team to beat. You certainly must EARN your repect and know that you earned it and deserve it.
Our defense has looked strong in preseason, so the Offense has to get on the same page, score 20 points and get 10 points off turnovers , TD and a field goal per game. Thirty points and a stout defense will send messages quickly and build confidence to a young offensive roster..
