Dolphins | Wednesday could be Frerotte's last day in Miami
Wed, 8 Mar 2006 05:52:51 -0800
Jason Cole and Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, report the
Miami Dolphins tentatively plan to release QB Gus Frerotte Wednesday, March 8, if there is no extension of the collective bargaining agreement between the players and the owners and free agency is reached. An extension or a new CBA could extend Frerotte's days in Miami but by no means guarantee he'll be with the team for the long term.

Gus better hurry and agree to accept second string pay or he will be cut.

Gus not gone yet. Saban First needs to agree with a verbal contract with Drew Brees and his agent. Then Saban goes to Gus and his agent and ask to restructure Gus contract including second string pay and cap friendly. Then if Gus and agent refuse to restructure, then Gus will simply be cut and Drew Brees will be signed either way. Very simple

If we get Brees, I would love to keep Gus as a backup. Way better option than Maddox. Bottom line is we need a Vet backup if Brees goes down. If we get Brees that is. Then I say we draft Croyle or Whitehurt and cut Sage and Lemon!

I'm affraid if that happens Gus won't accept the back-up role. Their will be controversy and probably a media circus over that. I for one am tired of that coming from our qb's. I say if Brees is signed Ferrotte has to go IMO.

^^There wont be controversy..Brees is better than Frerrotte. There would be no need for a contr0versy. Maybe if it were Fiedler/Frerrotte....If we could somehow keep Frerrotte on our team as a backup that would be tremendous...Quite an insurance policy. WE GOTTA KEEP FRERROTE.

Ferrotte has already said very passionatly that he will be the starting qb next year and he's not going anywhere. He will lobbie for team support and if Brees has a bad game imagine how many Ferrotte is better than Brees threads we'll see on here. I'm afraid Ferrote won't be a team player on the situation because he honestly thinks he is a good enough qb to start. I beleive thats from running into the wall in Wash.

IF the CBA is not agreed on by the owners today and we have to go into FA with the $94.4 mil figure, Gus is a goner just to get us under the cap. There will be a few restructures, etc as well to get extra room. That really puts the onus on Saban to sign either Brees or trade for Ramsey (although, Ramsey may be a cap cut if there is no CBA).

If the CBA is agreed on, Gus will be kept while we are pursuing Brees. If he's signed, I see Gus moving on at that time. Gus won't be on the roster at his current salary and cap figure next season. He may be restructured or cut, but no way is he paid starter salary for sitting behind Brees....

If things don't work out with Brees (and assuming a CBA is done), look for Miami to trade for Ramsey or talk to McCown...I still think that Brees is just as much a risk as Ramsey or McCown...different reasons, but the same amount of risk...

I dont want an angry 2nd string QB. So if we get Drew i say we cut Gus

I had read that the Raven's were very Interested in becoming Guskateers

Gus has to go

no, if we get brees, it would be nice to have Gus as insurance.

gus stinks you guys.

hated saban when he picked him up as a free agent.

i hope saban fixes that mistake by cutting this worthless piece of crap.

we really dont need gus but it would be nice to have him as back up but if we cut him and brees goes down we could always have mare out there handing ball off to brown or williams and just ahve them pound in a few yards
