I played tackle football with my boys from south florida today. I had a really nice christmas break, I miss SoFla. Every Christmas break we get a game going, today we had a 6 on 6 at Bamford Park in Davie.
I'm 6'5, 270, kinda slow but competitive, have great hands and break alot of tackles.
I dont play QB, but always call plays, i love offensive coordinating. So today i was captain, picked the bigger kids, the other team had smaller faster playmakers...
the first half of the game it was very defensive, we were losing 1-0 after 30 minutes of playing on a short feild (50 yards)..
so i felt like we should run more, we did and drove for a TD with 6 running plays in a row and a passing TD to cap the drive.

they scored in 2 plays making it 2-1.
so we get down on a 4th and forever. I call the wildcat play where my brother played Ronnie, takes the snap and hands off to my friend who does the ricky motion in the backfeild who then filps it back to me (pennington) and i hit a streaking cobbs for about 40 yards. It was the single funnest play I've called and executed. I never play QB, i got a weak arm, and luckily i had the wind, throwing one of my farthest passes ever, to a wide open cobbs. I felt like a postgame Pennington saying "I just thought, don't miss him"

We got a stop and after that, we ran mostly wildcat plays the rest of the game. We handed it off alot with my friend doing the ricky motion, he'd run right every time, and one he pitched it to our fasest guy (ginn) on a reverse and he ran it in untouched for 30 yards. We designed our Ricky guy to throw to a fasano like tall guy we had from the wild cat.

I caught only one pass, i normally played full back for running plays and TE style routes due to my speed. I did have about 6 rushes for about 25 yards total, and 2 passing TD's on 2 attempts...

The other Passing TD came from when we started doing the midseason style wildcat, we unleashed against Seattle. When you got ronnie take the snap with cobbs and ricky standing next to him in shotgun. I took a hand off from that formation but mostly blocked for the other guy who got many carries in that formation.. I also threw my TD in that formation, i took the handoff from my brother (Ronnie) and faked the run up the middle behind 3 blockers.. I pulled back and ronnie was in the flat by his lonesome, so it threw it to him and he walked in for a 10 yard TD..

It was alot of fun, I had:
1 rec, 8yards
6 carries, about 25 yards, TD
2/2 passing for 50 total yards and 2 TDs.. easily my best QB'ing of my life. lol

So i want you guys to try some wild cat plays when you play next. After starting behind 1-0 and 2-1, we won the game 7-4 and it was due to running the ball with shocking wildcat plays...

It felt like i was a Miami Dolphin playing in NE, week 3.
Thanks for the Wildcat Miami... It's meant so much to me in backyard and profession football.

<3 the phins

i don't write them down, but i remember them...
I'm a blocker dude, gritty player not flashy...
as a playcaller i give the rock to better athletes...
I was a LG/DT in high school, excuse me for getting excited when i have that kind of an impact on the offense..

I'd wreck you out there.. Wanna play?

Hah nah man I'm just not used to seeing people know all their stats in a pickup game like that, no offense meant there, you've got a right to be proud if you impacted that game like Ronnie yet you would block for him in the Pros

Next time i play tackle football, im defenitely tryin the Wild cat.

Yeah that sounded like an awesome game you had there.
Next pickup game I'm trying the wildcat forsure.

Dude, you keep your own stats in a pickup game?
i do aswell lol, i wason fire @ lunchtime football
first play got a massive catch, then caught like 3tds in the redzone into the endzone lol

5 rec, 62 yds, 3tds

So I guess Texas "pick up" games aren't as interesting still but here is my story:

So I go to Judson HS in Converse (suburb of San Antonio) and we have aa storied football program. Me, I'm not exactly the strongest guy or the fastest but I can play for hours without being worn out.

Well we played a game for awhile with a few of my friends and most left but me and another guy stayed. The Varsity team showed up (this was last saturday btw) and they picked us up and we played. Well it was 4th and 10 (e were playing at the stadium so we know yardage haha) and we were trying to decide a play so I did a Wildcat play. Our QB lined up as RB and the ball was hiked to our RB who faked like he was running and he tossed it to our QB who started to run towards the right with out WR right behind him (think option play).
Well (still behind the line) the ball was tossed to the WR who hit me for a good solid 60+ yard TD pass.
I was wide open for 20 yards all around me.

Anyways I just gotta say one thing....the football team hits hard haha

I wish men around here still played tackle football. Of all the things I expected out of TX.......I expected grown men to play football....Sadly, men just go to "Shoe carnival" and sit down to watch football now.

We played on the day after Thanksgiving and the other team started running the wildcat with the biggest guy on the field (starting DE for Purdue) taking the snaps. They were killing us with it. It was a great game, and we did end up winning.

Oh and here are my rough stats from what I remember:

handful of receptions (mostly screen passes)
1 rec TD
about 6 sacks blitzing from the OLB
a coupld tackles for losses (1 of which was on the DE from Purdue and it was solo, and TD saving.)
