Todd Heap just signed a 6 year deal, no terms were released.

Very similar numbers for both Randy and Todd Heap.

Todd's got a little more speed.
Todd has missed many games due to different injuries.

Randy, not as fast, but hasn't missed a game.

This contract will set the mark for Randy.

the guy is not great theres better than him

Heap might not be the greatest TE, but he is in the top ranks of them.

Kellen Winslow Jr. had a contract bigger than Tony Gonzalez when he first signed (we all know how that turned out). Gonzo has been the best tight end in the league consistently the past few years, giving Winslow that kind of contract is ridiculous. Todd Heap, however, has proven he can play and I wouldn't be surprised if he asked for a king's ransom. However, I think Todd Heap benefitted from the lack of wide receivers in Baltimore.

Heap faster than Randy? I dono.... They're pretty similar, but Heap is more reliable I'd say and blocks better.

Does anyone know what Antonio Gates contract looks like down in SD? Years/dollar amount??

i think he playing for the minimum unless they signed him to a long term deal. He was undrafted rookie.

Heap is an excellent TE. He just cannot stay on the field.

Randy is not quite the all-around TE that Heap is. But he's pretty darn good, and he stays on the field.

Let's hope he got a fair salary without being overpaid. I think Randy could have a great year but do we really want to bust the bank and start getting into salary cap hell. Believe me, I want to keep him, but we always have to think about the future.

Gates is playing without a contract right now.....

NOW that is a team guy

Randy is alot faster then Heap I think, but Heap has more consistent hands and blocks better. Theres no comparison, Heap is much better then Randy right now. Mcmichael makes alot of dumb mistakes and doesnt consistently catch the ball well.

we had a potential hall of fame te 2 yrs ago but

the guy became addicted to the golden coral and ate his way off the roster which was a shame because he led the ncaa in td's back in 97 or 98 . the name was my main man alonzo mayes who would have been great if he would have done the things it takes to be a stud football player. alonzo would have been faster and sooooo much better than donald lee our te corp would have really rocked. hell i miss jed weaver hes better than lee.

As far as the guys on the field (I'd have kellen at #2 overall) I'd say that Heap is second only to tony gonzalez. Heap didn't show much last year because he was injured, but this guy can play. I'd take him over mcmichael any day.
