Do you all think Saban will actually show some accountability for the loss or continue to make excuses for why Gus hasn't played well? I actually think since he been making excuses and propping him up since the first pre season game why would he stop now and open the door to people questioning him which they are I'm sure doing in private now, them I mean the media!

I watched 'Point After' on the NFL Network and Saban said alot of what everyone is saying on here - the defense was bad on third down, the defense gave up big runs because of bad tackling, the offense missed in the passing game on several plays.

I think he will say the same thing tomorrow except he will have more specifics. As far as where to go from here... I will be interested to hear that.

I REALLY WANT TO SEE SOME FIRE IN SABAN. I want to feel like enough is enough if things dont improve people are getting benched. that's what i'll be looking for. show me some friggin concern nick!

You know what? I really don't care how he looks at the PC. What I care about is that he continues to bring this team along the way he has been doing so far. This year means nothing on its own, but it is vital to the long term success of the team.

Just because lots of you are checkers players, that doesn't mean I want Nick to stop playing chess.

 Thank you. My thoughts exactly.

then tell me, my friend, why are we starting a 34 year old journeyman qb?

I think Saban should stay the course and stick to his ways. He has to do what he feels is right. If he feels it's chewing some tail then I'm all for it. It's his job to fix it and my job as a fan to support whatever he does. It's Huezenga's job to decide how Saban's doing his job. IMO.

He's the best option.

If this team had all the pieces in place at this point, we wouldn't be rebuilding. The stand-ins like Gus aren't perfect, but they allow the players who will be here when it counts to more effectively learn the things they need to learn than if we had Sage freaking Rosenfels out there.

I really don't see the point of watching a Saban Press Conference. He doesn't say much, and what he does say is all about nothing. I'm not saying it's a bad thing either, but he just doesn't give anything up. He seems like he HATES talking to the media and he pretty much just blows off all of their questions.

If you had an endless amount of free time, you could try to see if he's trying to send out coded messages in his obviously canned remarks. That might be one point to watching. ;)

More like cutting a few guys. That should light a fire.
I think some of the guys just want to collect a paycheck this season knowing that they won't be here next year so they really don't give a damn what happens on the field.

im not so sure that is the case anymore. and if it is, meaning that there isnt a qb on our roster capable of a rating higher than 70, this coaching staff has some questions to answer.

Maybe this coaching staff understood that it didn't MATTER what the QB's rating was -- it mattered that he understood the offense well enough to serve as a stand in for the rest of the guys.

Some of you are acting as though this team wasn't 4-12 last season and as though the cupboard wasn't empty when Nick got here.

thats true. i dont know. im split down the middle on this one

there really wasnt anyone available in FA or the draft, though i think brunell was.

but, this system seems to demand a top QB or possibly WR or both. there doesnt seem to be much compromise between the system's ideals and the lack of talent on the team.
