With the hapless Bills looming on the schedule and the Dolphins having 10 days between games to prepare for them tonights game becomes really the most important game of the season to this point. Because tonight's game is going to be difficult, on the road against a decent team without Ronnie Brown it's a test that we simply HAVE to pass to have any kind of playoff chance this season.

A loss tonight, putting us at 4-6, would just cripple us. We're already not in the "Wildcard picture" and of course the division race would be practically up since we'd essentially fall 3.5 games behind the Patriots.

Now if there is one thing Tony Sparano's team has done during his tenure it's win the big games and keep our season alive. Look down the stretch last year, any losses to the 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Raiders really would have buried us but we managed to win every one of them. Not to mention the extremely tough task of going into New York on the final week and beating the Jets in order to win the division. So at least our teams have stepped up in that regard.

But tonight we face an equally desperate team. A team that probably is playing for its season tonight also. The NFC South race is practically over and with the parity in the NFC a wildcard spot is going to be extremely difficult for the Panthers to get dropping a home game to the Phins tonight.

Two teams that CAN'T lose. One team will......But it wont be us.

Phins 24
Panthers 14

Thats your final.

Ricky should have decent yardage between the tackles against Carolina run D.

I watched parts of Carolina games in the last couple weeks and they are very dangerous. Delhomme, albeit not as effective as he was back in the day, is playing a little better and they really run the ball well. What is really important for us is to stop the run like we did all season long because it will force Delhomme into 2nd and long and 3rd and long, he'll commit mistakes for sure in this scenario. We need to stack the box right at the start of the game because they always run as much as they can to send a message.

On offense, we need to go back to basic football and throw the ball a little bit more than usual to save Ricky some gas. Henne can throw on them if he's not forcing things. We can run on them for sure with Thomas Davis out and Peppers is limited, their defense is not as good as it was when Jenkins was there.

I hope for a good special teams night, our kick coverage is still not really good and it hurts us more than people think...

agreed, and if anything we have alot less breathing room than carolina bc they play in the nfc where possibly 9-7 can get a wildcard as opposed to the afc where 10-6 may not even get in. with that being said, we shouldnt throw the wildcard out just yet. if u take a look at all 4 divisions, u have the texans and jags at both 5-4, so if we do r job we pass them with the tiebreakers scenario no matter wat they do the rest of the way. between san diego and denver, there both 6-3. if sd wins this week, then they r in the division lead, which leaves the broncos at 5-4 and they would also have the same amount of confrence losses as us and only 1 game back of them. and then u got the afc north, so assuming pitt gets one of those spots, the other spot is between us, denver, houston, jax and baltimore, and 3 of those 4 teams r only 1 game better then us and we play 2 of those teams, and baltimore still has 2 games with pittsburgh left, indy and a monday nighter in green bay. as for the broncos, if orton is injured for a while, if u saw simms play at all sunday, they will be irrelevant within a few weeks. bottom line is we must win tonight and we r back in the hunt for both the division and wildcard race. lets go fins tonight lets see henne develop into a great qb in front of ours eyes, and lets see ricky run wild. and hopefully porter wont be MIA tonight like he has basically the whole season. im a huge porter supporter, and i dont bash him at all, but hes rlly gotta step up, especially now that one of our best players if not our best, is done for the season.

If we are to have a chance of winning this game we have to force Delhomme into making a few turnovers. Seems easy enough since he's prone to do just that but so is Sanchez and somehow we couldn't force a turnover versus him in either game.

This is a must win. If not we're all but statistically eliminated from playoff contention. But our chances would be so slim it's not even worth considering.

Look at the standings if everything plays out....

Week 11
Dolphins beat the Panthers (5-5)
Patriots beat the Jets (7-3)

Week 12
Dolphins beat the Bills (6-5)
Saints beat the Patriots (7-4)

Week 13
Dolphins (6-5) take on the Patriots (7-4) for the division on Sunday Night in Miami. If Miami wins, they tie with New England, but get first place with the tie-breaker. We all know Miami will win that game as we always split with New England, but of course, it will be hard.

As long as NE loses a game in the next 2 weeks, we'll be contending for the division.

but then we have our nemesis in the Texans, a hot titans team and Pttsburgh, who will be playing for a WC.....while the pats have....nobody worth mentioning.

It's easy. We bring the heat and get to Jake, we win. We do what we have been doing the last few weeks in terms of pressure. We lose.

Regardless of what happens, we have players that just need the game experience. The loss of brown is devastating and if we did reach the playoffs, it would be a VERY quick exit IMO.

Not trying to be down on the team but it is what it is.

Already no respect for Miami. New England may have a significant lead, but they are not there comfortably. If the scenario I just stated happens, then what?

We'd still have to beat them head to head, with Brady back. But lets get through this week first.

The title of this thread is so true. if we do not win this game we lose our chances of being afc east champs again. the end of our schedule is so scary we got to get this.
