Tony Lippett has exceeded expectations at every turn in his NFL career. Year 3 should be no different.
Perhaps our least-talked-about CB, Tony Lippett, might turn out to be the best of the group. By the way, he was tied for 11th in the NFL with 4 interceptions.

Lippett certainly has unique height for the position, not to mention a unique skill set informed by his WR/CB background. He understands routes with more perspective.

The question has always been: when will he put it all together? We see each and every year, Lippett developing “it.”
I think Miamis plan is to draft a CB high so they can have a trio of young Corners thus getting rid of Maxwell and his 8million contract.

I've enjoyed watching him grow this past year. It is hard to get a great gage on his abilities with such a weak LB core in front and not having Jones on the backend. Hopefully, those factors will allow him to make a greater impact on defense this year. My only criticism of Lippett is that he is not the best of tacklers.

Am pretty sure he has a whole off season to work on that.

I have to admit, I was wrong about him. He looked HORRIBLE last preseason, I gave up on him prematurely. He got better as the season went on. He still has a lot to learn, but what I saw at the end of the season is encouraging.

maxwell settled in as the season progressed. xavien howard looked promising. lippett looks promising. i'd prefer a better nickel than bobby mccain, but boundary corner is not near the need of (in order) Guard, Free Safety, Linebacker, Defensive Tackle, or Defensive End.

I've been telling my friends that ask about our draft needs that boundary corner is a non-issue for next season. We are three deep in starting caliber guys. Our issue is nickel and free safety. Linebacker could use some help and edge rusher is going to be a need very soon. I personally think lippett pushes Maxwell and Howard this year but doesn't ultimately start

He's a solid player, needs to work on giving up the slants / being beaten to the inside so easily but he's been developing well. A much better tackler than he was as a rookie also

My only fear is what do we lose with Vance Joseph. He certainly fell short as DC (it can be argued about injuries and such) but you can't argue his pedigree with secondary development, and he did exactly that with our secondary. Howard came on quick, Lippett looked like a different CB, and Maxwell strongly improved from the beginning of the season

Whatever scheme we run that calls for Bobby McCain to be on the field so much should be reconsidered. Maybe we could draft some competition for him in camp. He is a weakness back there whenever the QB has time to throw. I don't have the exact numbers but I saw him get beat a lot last season. I hope the new D.C. has some different ideas about nickel and dime coverage. If we had better LBers maybe it wouldn't be so obvious that McCain is a liability. Let's make sure to add some CBs and S in the draft. I'm excited to see what Burke has as far as schemes and game planning for the upcoming season. I hope he impresses right out of the gate. He's is supposed to be extremely bright so I'm waiting to see some cool stuff installed. We just didn't have the horses last year on D, especially towards the end of the year with injuries etc. We need a strong defensive draft. It is a must to add speed and ferocity to the D and maybe , for once, catch a break with the injuries! Geesh!!, last season almost every good player we had went down.

That can only be a good thing

Lippett benefited from so many glaring holes in our run defense and linebacker coverage, that he was never really attacked. He should continue to improve, but bolstering the secondary should still be a priority.

Hes why i think miamis only in the nickel corner market in the draft

Adderall rant so skip away if you want

Yessir. Been pounding his drum since week 10. He definitely has the tools minus long speed but he makes up for that in his ability to play the ball and length. He competes hard. He has great insight into route concepts. Understands situations prettty well for his relative lack of experience on that side of the ball.

Hope Sherm is telling Tone that he's gotta be king of the jungle and bust those wide receivers in their mouths and let them know all day long that you're bigger and badder than them. Probably the biggest place he can improve.
