Tony Oden and the Stubbie Coverage

Really good article. I think with the emergence of Howard, Tank, McCain, and Lippett returning, Miami has finally started to turn the CB spot into a position of strength. If they got themselves a true cover Safety, they could wreak havoc in 3 Safety sub packages with McDonald and Jones.

We’ll see what the Draft and Free Agency bring, but I’m actually starting to get the feeling that Miami just might field a competent Defensive unit in 2018.
 
Tony Oden might just be what the doctor ordered for Miami’s secondary? Everything I’ve read about this guy seems too good to be true? Hes got excellent teaching skills and an innate ability to bring the best out in the players he coaches. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do with Miami’s DB’s. The quartet of Lippett, Howard, Tankersley and McCain and the potential of McTyer; could become a huge strength under Odens’ tutelage. This is the sleeper hire of the off season so far.

Mentioned before but Gase wanted to focus more on turnovers from the secondary. Felt that Anarumo's units (while good) didn't do a good job of causing turnovers. There were other issues too but that's another story
 
Looking forward to what he can do with our guys. Loved this hire.

On a side note: a great hire like this with Oden's coaching potential gets little response on this forum but Ajayi acting like a child generates pages of responses.

Other issues - missed communications? Players not knowing their assignments?

Some dissent among the staff as Anarumo wanted the DC job. There were some communication issues with the secondary too that were concerning but the big issue on field was that the Dbs rarely looked for the ball
