On a 1-15 team that is about the way you have to do it. As good as Taylor is, he was the leader of a 1-15 team last year. Same for Porter, Holiday, you get the point. I sincerely believe there will be competition on this team at every position because there has to be. Guys like Solai, Ninkovich, Wright, Roth and Moses will get every shot given their age and potential. Don't even under-estimate the contributions of guys like Miles, Smith, Camarillo, and Bryan.
Fugerson said it best the other day. It doesn't really matter in regard to the history one would have with Bill. He is looking for production, and wouldn't hesitate to cut any of the guys he was involved in signing. I say let the competition begin. I want to believe the best 53 made it. Projecting a roster from a team that was 1-15 is conjecture. I will believe the best 53 will be there come the first game. That could involve major long shots like Babers, Foster, and Billingsly, or it might be the most familiar of names, but they will be ready to play some football. I sensed that only some of the time last year. I expect it every game this year.

I agree with your thoughts. This is the way it should be, but the clowns before the trifecta were just adding to the problem and not changing the problem. Let the competition begins, may the best 53 win...

Competition has been sorely lacking in recent years. We will see immediate improvement just from the increase in competition and from the players being in top physical shape. The last regime(s) allowed a bunch of fat, lazy, unmotivated players to make the roster. I know of some college offensive lines that were better than our line the last couple of years.

In addition, I can't help but think the coaching will be much improved. When I see Sparano speak, I get a little giddy thinking how refreshing this new attitude is. No player will be above the team and we will finally see the Dolphins begin to play as a team for the first time in many years. I am trying to temper my expectations but I am getting excited about fielding a much more competitive team this year.

Increasing the level of competition and bringing in new blood is a pre-requisite for any team that has not made the playoffs in years and after 1-15. Tony S comes off as a winner and a guy with a solid vision. A FO has to be on the same page from GM and Owner all the way down the line. The previous two regimes did not have enough sense of direction or took the short cuts ie. trading draft picks for quick fixes that never panned out. That is not to be expected out of the present FO.

I agree with you to a degree, but at the same time it seems like this happens every year. Like last year with Cameron, where our depth was terrible and most of the guys we had in during training camp were garbage, I don't remember many people pointing that out. We had a lot of bodies in camp, and hardly an of them were very good, and yet people still heralded guys like Kerry Reed as great players that should contribute.

Will it be any different than last year? Sure we have a lot of spots open for competition right now, but are guys like Babers, Billingsly, Foster and Bess better than their predecessors?

I agree with everything except the knock on some players being a "leader on a 1-15 team". Those individuals would have been leaders if the fins were 1-15 or 15-1. Doesn't matter.

Porter and Holliday was injured for the most part of the season and the young guys wasn't around them enough to say they wasn't leaders. On top of that Zach and that POS JT was suppose to be the leaders and no one wanted to overstep the boundries. Joey said to hell with it at the end of last year and took the role he should have had from the get go. BTW, from what Ricky said about his meeting with BP it soounded to me like he wasned Ricky to be the veteran O player teammates can turn to. We are set with a truer leader (which we have never had) on D and one of the hardest working and most talented players ever on O if Ricky takes that role and stays straight. Before people start knocking Ricky just remember whom Ronnie accounts for his transitions and success.

So now it's JT/ZT/VH's blame that the team stunk it up?

Please.

Wow...The panic and ninnyism that surrounds a bottoming out season astounds me. It started when we cut loose Schula, and, it has been a steady downturn since. It's organizational, not player oriented.

Good tactic; Blame the workers for the company going under when the company has been ill managed.
