All we see is $38M over 5 years and $20M guaranteed. I cannot find any details on the first 2 years other than it's for $24M with a $10M roster bonus for 2016.

Is the $10M roster bonus part of the $20M guaranteed? What if he is moved or inured?

Is a signing bonus involved?

How much is the actual 2015 cap hit? I doubt it's a lot as Buff has $15M without Clay, and we have $12M with his $7M tag included.

For 2016, Buff has around $60M. We have around $30M but, with Cameron, Wake, and Grimes counting $30M, who may not be here.

Also, would be no big deal to flip Suh"s $28M hit in 2016 to 2017, when we have $100M in space.

Need more info on the offer.

You know its 24.5 mill over the first 2 years. I heard 12 million next year so that means 12.5 this year. Going to be hard to match given our money on Suh next year along with projections for tannehill, pouncy and vernon

Let him walk. Cap implications aside, Clay is not worth the money. Let the tag expire.
We have Cameron, Simms, and the rookie from last year. Free agents band aid TE's are out there in case of injury.
We need to beef up the OG position. Make a run at Connolly and possibly Mathis.
Going into the season with Dallas Thomas as our guard is not a great scenario.

I may be in the minority on this but Clay is just not good enough for that kind of cash.

He is a solid TE when healthy but paying him 12 million per for the first two seems way too high.

Lol If They want to over pay for a player let then have at it .... Lol theyre crazy for paying Clay 12.5 million

Saying $12.5M this year is not good enough. IF there were a $10M signing bonus, there would be only a $4.5M cap hit this year. The $12M next year likely includes the $10M roster bonus, which may or may not be fully guaranteed.

Tannehill is signed, under his rookie deal for this year. A new deal would start in 2016, and be cheap that year. The big hit would come in 2017 when we have $100M, at this point.

There is not enough to go on without more info.

20m over the 1st 2-years, maybe, a very small maybe you think about matching that. But not 24.5m - 25m over the 1st 2-years. No way no how.

Different ways to look at this. IF we decide to give him the $24M in the first 2 years, he is very cheap, in his prime, in the last 3 years of the deal when contracts will be increased a lot.

My main concern in keeping Clay is the knee. I don't think it will be because of the cap, until I see more.

I think he's gone....Suh's big cap hit is next year.....and we have to get Tannehill signed to a long term.

Clay would be a luxury we can't afford...I think Buffalo will regret this deal.

I love that they did force Buffalo to overpay though....As long as we shore up the defense and O-line...I like our chances against them with their QB situation.

I would like to see the real deal before deciding it to be a luxury we cannot afford.

It's expensive but I hate letting home grown talent walk. Your GM talks about we're a "draft and develop team" then you let a guy you drafted and developed walk in his first free agent stint. I understand the money is steep but relying on Jordan Cameron as our number 1 TE is very risky. If we're looking at Sims/Lynch/Whoever after week five the "I told you so's" will pile up.

You are not in the minority, you are in the majority. The money is nuts for, as you said, a solid pass catching TE.

It is a gamble Bills made going high in years 1 and two when you have significant money tied up in Suh and Tannenhill (2016) I don't think you can weather the 1st two years to get to the value years like Bills can

What are the real details on the first 2 years? I have not seen them anywhere?
