Guess who's number one. props for fox sports to give a little respect to our great qb, even though the article is kind of in a negative side. But it just shows you that Marino was that great just short of a superbowl ring. heck I still feel he would have been better than what we had in the past the fiedlers, lucas and feeleys etc. Long live the King! :D

oops sorry forgot the link: http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6636996?MSNHPHCP&GT1=9331

Where was Jim Kelly?
He deserved to be in that group. Certainly more worthy than weirdo Barry Sanders.

yea I was thinking about that too, I mean 4 straight superbowl appearance. And his team was one of the reasons Dan had such a tough time going back in the 90's.

:knee:Marino Rules to all of you he didnt win a championship he had no defence and went up against Joe Montana ( known as 2nd best QB of all time ) and jerry Rice ( known as best WR of all time)

Lets face it Marino was the Greatest PASSING Qb of all time no question about it. But what good did that do the Fins? I hate to say it but being the best in passing doesn't win a championship, it will only get you to the big dance but it will never win you the prom Queen. :)

Ok so I know your going to say IF this and IF that but IF's are not reallity and the bottom line is he didn't get it done. Now go ahead and blast me all you want, but it won't change the facts. Stats dont mean a thing if you aint got no ring. :)

What about OJ Simpson and Barry Bonds?

Maybe they didn't make the list because they're both surrounded by too much controversy.

No.

Jim Kelly was an above average QB. Barry Sanders is arguably the best RB of the modern era. What are you smokin'?

I am sorry but your post does make sense. Great passing qbs dont win SB seems to be your point. What kind of qbs win superbowls? - do you have to be a great play action qbs. Or QBs like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson -- are those the kind of QBs it takes to win superbowls. Clearly the type like Marino or fouts or Tarkenton are not. Are you saying its the team?

One person does't win a championship. If Marino had the team around him all the SB championship-winning QBs had, he would be one, too. :D

Rings don't mean a thing about personal achievement.

It has been written on this forum from several other threads about the travesty in Marino not getting a ring. The FO never adequately addressed the need for a franchise rb or the D that we needed to defend our lead in the fourth quarter. Want a good analogy of the Fins in the 80's and 90's look at the Colts before this past season. I would say the Chargers in late 70s and early 80s but at least they had Chuck Muncie for a while. The Colts gamble on speed on D and giving up beef up front paid off. But, they are the exception. Don't get me started on Olivadotti and how much our bend but don't break defense and lack of adjustments at half time cost us games.

Dilfer + Ravens Defense = Super Bowl Ring

Brad Johnson + Ravens Defense = Super Bowl Ring

Doug Williams (Who was a pretty good QB anyway) + Redskins Defense = Super Bowl Ring

Dan Marino and the Dolphins bottom 10 defenses = NO SUPER BOWL RINGS.

sorry......I cant blame HIM.

too bad he couldn't win a ring, but still best QB in my mind...
