30. Miami Dolphins (27th)

Pass blocking rank: 27th
Run blocking rank: 30th
Penalties rank: T-8th
Stud: You almost feel bad for Mike Pouncey (80.0) at times, who looks so much better than his line teammates.
Dud: Pick a guard, any guard. Well, any guard named Dallas Thomas (36.3) or Jamil Douglas (28.7). Neither man has come out of the first eight weeks with any real credit.
Summary: The offensive line looked like a weakness heading into the season, and so it has proved. Injuries to Ja’Wuan James and , haven’t helped, but even those two being fully healthy couldn’t overcome the play at the guard spots.

Now I know not too many people are fans of PFF these days, and I have my own reservations about some of their information... but it's just so baffling to me that our O-Line after all these years was NEVER fully addressed. Just half assed moves here and there. I believe Tannehill definitely has to play better given some of the performances we've seen from him this season... but man, how can you be too mad when having to play behind such a crap OL? And this is BEFORE we lost James. We're in for a looooong season ladies and gents.

Summary: The struggles of Andrew Luck might make the offensive line look worse than it is, but the truth is that, while some have struggled, for the most part this line has done a good job handling the toughest assignments out there.

Colts come in at 13 interesting and Seattle last.

To be fair, in 2010 we drafted Pouncey in the first, in 2012 Martin in the second, in 2014 James in the first, in 2014 we signed former first round pick Albert to a huge contract. We currently have three former first round picks playing on the line. It's not like we never addressed the line. To me that's not half assed moves, that's a lot of resources put into the offensive line.

I'm a Seattle fan (my 2nd favorite team), and let me just say that the o-line in Seattle is horrific. Not only do they let in pass rush pressure almost instantly (at least one of them whiffs every pass play), but their run blocking is just pathetic too. People wonder what's wrong with Wilson and Marshawn, but the fact is they're running for their lives every play. It's amazing Seattle scores any points at all. And that's with two bona fide Pro Bowl/Super Bowl players in the backfield.

Which brings me to Tannehill, who over the past 3 years may well have had the worst o-line of any QB in the game. Protection = production, and that applies to every single QB who's ever played. Given our o-line, I can't see how anyone can fairly call Tannehill a bust - at worst, all you could say is his performance is still under review.

It looks like he is throwing off balance in the games I have seen him in this year. Trying to force the ball late and off balance at least to me anyway.

Say what you will about PFF, but I really trust their evaluation of the OL above all else.

As for Russell Wilson, now that the Seahawks have had to pay everybody, I feel like they've cheaped out in the right place. Along the OL. Russ has his flaws, but his escapability in the pocket means they really don't need much talent on that OL to be successful.

The Seattle oline is pretty incredible. Russell Wilson plays like he assumes 2 defensive players will already be in the backfield as soon as he gets the ball. Bevell is also the worst OC in football. It's extraordinary that people here thought that he was HC material.

Yep, it's no secret our oline sucks. Dallas Thomas is getting gameballs while he's having his ass handed to him every game. The loss of James is catastrophic and we're about to see things get much worse with Fox out there.

Indeed, which is why I said we never FULLY addressed the line. For example, knowing how injury prone Albert is, we never once thought to maybe draft a tackle we will eventually need for the future who could also back him up. Martin turned out to be a big bust (and major pain in the ass to boot). Pouncey has worked out and the jury is still out on guys like Billy Turner, Jamil Douglas and JaWuan James. But good God, the least we could do is try to acquire quality depth. It's idiotic for this coaching staff to not have some sort of contingency plan in case one of our guys goes down. Dallas Thomas is a STARTER. Let that sink in. And we have filth like Jason Fox as our spare tackle... that's not gonna get it done. I'm not saying we need 8 pro bowl lineman... but we should have done better than what we have right now. IMO anyway

Line looked fine post-Philbin and pre-injury. Unfortunately, the FO appears to be utterly incapable of finding much needed depth. Fortunately, it doesn't take 1st round picks to solve it, at least with most competent teams.

I will give Wilson credit for making plays using his legs that's for sure, games I have watched he is been running around most of the game because of the constant pressure.

case closed

Buts it's all the QBs fault. He should consistently still be able to put up 300+ yards and 3+ TD every week. With or without a complementary running game...

Doesn't matter to me what the investment is. We knew it wasn't working, and it was clear as day it was going to continue to stunt the progression of the whole offense. If you have a unit that is so terrible you have to continue to invest until it's fixed.
