Its crazy I have been a fan of the dolphins for over 30 years I can't remember if we ever took a te before the 3rd round ever .
With that said my top 3 TE to play for us are as follows.
1.McMichael
2.Byers
3.Clay
Then Fasano had a few good years as well.
Why have we not invested in a high draft pick for a TE?

Byers wasn't a tight end. Prolly thinking of Keith Jackson. Other names are Ferrell Edmonds, maddog, Bruce hardy and even Jim jenson

funny thing is we once signed a free agent tight end to, I believe the biggest contract at the time for a tight end in nfl history

anyone?

I started really paying attention to the fins when randy McMichael was our TE. No idea why he ended up on the rams

Keith Byers was an athletic Fullback.
Farrell Edmonds was nicknamed tripod at the Univ of Maryland - he was a better prospect then a successful tight end.

Marino made Hardy and Rose from pretty goo to very good. But Marino was like Larry Bird or Wayne Gretzky those guys made everyone around them better.

McDaniel was good - inconsistent but the QB play during his stint was not good.

Keith Jackson
Randy McMichael
Bruce Hardy

1. Keith Jackson by far
2. Jim Mandich
3. Bruce Hardy (so underrated - could block when we were a running team and could catch and score when we were a passing team)
4. Joe Rose
5. Ferrel Edmonds
6. Charles Clay
7. Randy McMichael
8. Dan Johnson
9. Eric Green

Not putting Crash Jensen in there because it's debatable what he was! He was awesome at everything but I'm not sure to pigeon-hole him as a TE is right. However, if we must I'd put him no 2 after Jackson based on all-round contribution.

Crash goes in!

He was listed as a tight end and that was "his position".

Everything else went from there - QB option, H back, Fullback, blocking TE...

Just my opinion - I like your list though - it seemed right.

I agree about Hardy - he was very reliable - and versatile.

I was expecting someone to come here and say Cameron or Keller. I think the best tightend play i have seen has been McMichael and Fasano/Clay... I havnet been a fan too long but I remember Randy having one good year and then falling off.

Keith Jackson played big in big games from what I recall. His first game with Miami was in that 37-10 thrashing in Buffalo in 92. The Louis Oliver game. He had a monster game in the rain against the Chargers in the Divisional round at home that season. I loved that dude.
