Shula, then I go Wanny, he did a better job than Jimmy while here, he just sucked drafting personnel.
Truth. Wanny won a lot of games with minimal talent. With a little bit of help from Jay Fiedler. That guy was so frustrating to watch but he was a competitor. He was totally underrated. If Flores goes 11-6 this season with a playoff berth he jumps to three. If we win two playoff games he jumps to two. Without hesitation. That’s how thin this list is.
I think he needs two playoff wins to top Wanny. That 200yd Lamar Smith thriller still sits up there in my fond memories of Dolphins’ wins. That poor guy was gassed.
I didn’t factor in Flores yet but he will be our best coach next to Shula. I liked Fiedler and he was a football player but he threw the worst interception. My thoughts exactly. The sad thing about this is it’s really not a “best” or “top” list in that the only “top” coach on there was Shula.
JJ’s tenure he didn’t do any better than Shula did at the end of his career meaning, we didn’t improve. Wanny had success a bit - but he was married to a QB that was only going to get you so far and he overused Ricky Williams - and come to think of it, wasted his best season / best rushing season in franchise history w that awful meltdown in NE in the final game of 2002. Flores has a good shot a no 2. He already has shown he can develop players and run an disciplined / smart team.
Yes cause he had a noodle arm. You got your hands on an out pattern and you were gone.
As much as I can’t stand him, I would put Gase over Flores at this time simply because Gase led the team the the playoffs and Flores hasn’t done that yet. So I am only basing my choice on coaches who had playoff teams.
