Just thought with us now looking towards the draft I'd list some of the top sources for draft info.

1.Mike Mayock-Mayock IMO is second to none when it comes to the draft. I've only disagreed with him twice for for last year's draft (he said Robert Ayers would be the best defensive player in the draft in 3 years, and he said Pat White would be a starting QB in the NFL). His rankings are a bit different than what you will normally see, but he's got great connections and he's right more times than not.

2.Scott Wright- Scott is the owner of probably the best draft site out there; NFL Draft Countdown. While not much is going on now, his site really picks up during Senior Bowl week. Scott's blogs down in Mobile and during the combine are very insightful and let fans see how prospects are testing out. Scott also has great connections and has been the first to break rumors that happen to be true (Houston coveting Duane Brown, Ravens wanting Flacco, us making Jake Long our top priority). Scott Wright is a great source to see who teams are most interested in.

3.Todd McShay- McShay's first year with ESPN was painful to watch, but he's proven himself right when most people thought he was an idiot (saying Brady Quinn would fall into the 20's being the prime example) while not a great analyst, he is decent at his job. He values potential way more than most do as he has had Jake Locker, Aaron Maybin, Anthony Davis, and Navarro Bowman really high on his lists.

4.Mel Kiper- The grandfather of the draft, Mel still has great insight, but he isn't what he used to be. More stubborn now with his rankings or big school prospects, but again, great insight.

McShay is notoriously lousy. By the end of the process he's almost always just parroting the consensus. Scott Wright runs a good site, a free site, good for reference, but he also drastically revises his essential view of a player as the process goes along and a consensus is breached. He doesn't help himself by coming out with really premature mock drafts. I remember in his initial mock for 2007 he had us picking Ohio State DT Quinn Pit**** in the first round. Pit**** ended up going in the 3rd to the Colts and retired after one season.

I'm personally a fan of NFL Draft Scout, which publishes their stuff on the CBS site. The sheer amount of information is unmatched by anything else I've found, and they dig deeper than most places.

Either way, there's no substitute for your own eyes.

Same. Mayock is the best of the bunch. And I remember him talking about Pat White... He said that White shouldn't be thrust into the starting role and should be a slash role (WR/QB/RB) for a year or two before becoming a QB, and he nailed it right on. He also predicted the Raiders would draft Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Mayock is the best, no doubt. But he is one of those guys with connections, like Shefter, and analysis, like Clayton. The simple fact is that he concentrates on the draft while the others concentrate on everything.

Don't put much weight into Mayock's mocks until the week of the draft. He's famous for misdirecting the hangers on in his runup to the draft. His analysis is always sound, but his rankings are played closer to the vest with a new feature player/position each week to generate buzz and keep the mimickers guessing.

He also holds a LOT of info safely until the actual draft. So, he does have a good idea of who each team wants to draft, but he holds it until just before the pick is announced. Then, sometimes he hears or sees the pick itself before it is announced and that makes him look like a real sage. ;D

hmmm..actually he said "2 years from now i could see pat white beating out chad henne"

fail...

but he's still very good and every analysts misses...

If Berry slips passed the Fins at 12, there better not be any sharp objects or ropes near by

#1 Mayock
#2 Boomer
#3 CK
#4 Nolan Norwicki(bad spelling), Pro football weekly
#5 Scott Wright, draft countdown
After that, you don't need anything else.

Oops, forgot to give props, #2 and #3 can be found @universaldraft.com

I've got to say I find this thread quite funny. Rather than argue over who the best prospects are, we are arguing over who the best 'judges' of prospects are. Next we should argue over who here is best qualified to pick the best 'judge of talent'.

ill take the guy who played the game, has connections within the NFL, and intimated on live TV to Jamie Dukes he's fat..................

btw, theres a poster on this site who's opinions regarding draft talent I respect more than the ones you mentioned.

some here actually think they work in the NFL............. its all good to be passionate about something, but when you start taking yourself too seriously, well........................
