Torry Holt is on the block/might be released

Can I just pre-empt all the "we don't need a washed up receiver" and "we don't need to look at every released player" replies?

Actually, though he's 32 years old, he's still been quite productive recently, over 1,000 yards every season except for his rookie year, 16 games except for '05 (14), and between 7-12 TDs the last 5 seasons.

I just want our WR corps to get a bit better and at least be a *slight* threat. It would be nice if that happened this season - whether that's via Holt, a trade for Williams, an addition of a grizzled vet for mentoring purposes, etc.

Anything might help as long as the value is in our favour. I would think you need to trade for someone like that only because if released why would Holt come to a rebuild instead of Dallas, Chicago, GB, Den, Pitts etc... I'm sure he'd like a ring even more than money right now in the down swing of his career.

It's not that we're not going to compete soon but those teams are a couple years ahead of us and Holt is 32.

hey throw out a wilford for holt offer. who knows what linehan will do. both wrs are percieved to be dissapointments in one way or another.

Tell Linehan to trade us C.Long, Holt and whatever other decent players they got for jacksh*t and he can be our Offenive co-ordinater in '09 for big money. Afterall he'll have nothing to do next year.

I usually never open threads titled "(insert team name) might release (insert player name), should the Dolphins take a look" because we are rebuilding and it isnt nessiary.

But Torry Holt intrigues me for the simple fact that he could be a good influence on Teddy...

We need a receiver because running the wildcat all day will eventually get us in trouble. Holt has some of the best hands I have ever seen so should we take a look?

I hope everyone don't think the wildcat is something we are going to use all the time.. I think that was just the game plan to take advantage of an very old defense. It worked, I doubt we see for a while, it just gives teams something else to plan for.

I agree with you 100%.

Last week the wildcat was successful due to the defensive match up, but more importantly the element of suprise. Obviously suprise is gone, so the next time you see the wildcat formation will depend on match ups.

The Chargers built there Defense around speed. So, I would be suprised to see it next week.

I don't know. He's already got a ring. He might want that one last big contract before he retires.

i am not a rams fan, but i do not mind having holt, but the problem is not holt they need to fire linehan they have a lot of talent at the skilled positions and they are not doing jack squat. i wish we had those skill players we would be awesome. that is y the rams are the worst team in the nfl. the chiefs have less talent and are putting up stats for god sake they moved the ball with a qb named thigpen do not remember his first name

Lets see, Holt is 32 so realistically you would get 2-3 more seasons out of him. He is 6 foot and weighs 190 Lbs, hardly the big physical reciever the Fins are looking for. BUT Holt has eight 1000 yard recieveing seasons and that rare to see. He is not injury prone and is a top quality wide out. I think you could get him for a third or fourth aswell.

Even though I think its very un-likely he will come to the Fins or the FO even pursue him, but if by some miracle he did he would automatically up grade the whole offense. Giving Penny a go to guy, creating holes for the running game.

tell it like it is Oasis; I agree and we really should not overlook anyone becuase other teams will stop us and we will be right back here after our next loss saying the same thing.
