In the coming weeks, the Dolphins will settle the futures of as many as eight players. We are not talking bottom-of-the-roster guys here -- six were starters on a 2008 team that won the AFC East.

The players whose immediate futures might be decided include offensive tackle Vernon Carey, linebacker Channing Crowder, cornerback Jason Allen, receiver Ernest Wilford, defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday and three-fourths of the starting secondary -- cornerback Andre' Goodman and safeties Yeremiah Bell and Renaldo Hill.

nice article.
i like the axe and scaple comments.

Hopefully, Vonnie will agree to a restructured deal. I think Vonnie is the absolute epitome of what a team leader is supoosed to be.

Vonnie at 33 has a lot left. 46 tackles on the Dline is not a joke..., Kevin Carter was also in good form at that age, you cannot measure everyone by what you see on the field his rep is also solid

If Holliday is deemed too expensive and asked to take a pay cut, or worse, terminated, that will send a message throughout the locker room that even players who do everything they are asked, even those who lead and produce on the field, can get whacked.

The author is moronic by saying this. If Merling/Langford can produce just as much and are a lot cheaper, why would they keep Holliday for that much money, when they can invest that elsewhere and not just in one spot.

If Holliday is a true example of a class act, he will restructure and help this team attain more talent at different positions. That would be sending a message through the locker room.

I agree. I think everyone knows that price/performance/age ratios are a reality in this leauge and to think otherwise is foolish, IMO.

I love Holliday, BTW. I have ever since I watched him with UNC when coach Brown had that D playing so well.......But, bottom line; He needs to restructure.

I have felt all along Carey best position is/will be G much like Davis with the Cowboys, once he moved from T where he played with Arizona and into the G pos. he's taken off.

I can see the same for Carey, now finding that other T.....we'll see.

There is always an 'if' though ....

It's a good thing we are in this position -- it means we are getting better.

The job for the FO was easy last year .... now it gets tougher -- experience vs youth -- known quantity vs unkown (the proverbial 'potential' monniker)
