A bunch of us have brought this up, and figured we might as well speculate in a thread.

Tannenbaum is known ballsy move maker - acquiring Pat Pete would be right up his alley

Think about the pairing of X and PP. Then McCain can focus on the slot full time, and allow us to move Minkah to FS and truly get a grip on the position. McDonald is now more of a backup or big nickle type player. We would probably have the best secondary in the league.

PP's contract for the next 2 years is ~12 million and then ~13 million. 15 for this year. Might need to do some cap maneuvering, but we could make it work. .....well Dawn Aponte could've made the #'s work

But anyways - I would send them Parker (as Vaark suggested). Fitzgerald is no spring chicken, and do they have much else at receiver?? I know he's not a world beater - and damn I wish he could just get on the field and produce for us!! - but he's got some value in a trade. Throw in a 2019 second rounder, and then some late rounders that year or the next and it could happen.

This is very nice wishful thinking but we can’t afford him. Not only don’t we have the money this year, next year Tannahill amd Jones are going to take up another 15 million in raises. Add in Peterson’s 12 and were 27 million down against signing back any players. Sometimes you just have to make due at a position of weekness in your depth and hope the starters get back sooner rather than later.

This team is not close enough to being special to trade for him.

It's the best trade idea I've seen in a while from this board honestly, i wouldn't hate it

I don't have time to uncover all the cap implications but I believe a LOT of cap money comes off the books next year as well. Cutting Branch for example will be a huge number if I'm not mistaken. Suh? Perhaps a board cap-ologist can chime in.

If we can him to the team without giving up the farm do it.

Him and X man would be an awesome duo with Mcccain in the slot. Then we can move Minkah wherever we choose

Well I was wrong. Tanahill is an 18M increase and Jones is 12 Million. Some cuts where we can save money , Quinn about 10M, Branch about 7M (2M dead cap), Sitton 5M (2M dead), Amadola 6M, Kiko about 5M (3.5M dead) and a few others but now we’ve waived quite a few players and we still haven’t accounted for all of the Money Jones and Tanahill are getting an increase on. 2019 looks pretty scary actually. Here’s a link to the cap for the next few years including player by player hits and dead cap if cut. We really don’t have room for a high priced trade or FA.

Only 36 players on Contract in 2019 with 175M in cap hit and 15K in room to sign 17, practice squad 5mill for injury and some carry over.

It at times looks scary but it’s not. They have guys to re-sign though. Don’t forget rescinding Parker’s 9.3 million or so 5th year option. In 2020 Suh is off the books too
