With Cameron Wake coming aboard I wonder if it would be a good time to trade Joey Porter? Considering his monster year he had his value is at its highest. Roth is a great fit as strongside linebacker and being Porter is getting up in years I wonder if it would be a great time to trade him considering a few more teams are going to 3-4. What's all your opinions on that? Remember the trade of J.T. Parcells knows how to get rid of older players with value for future picks.

Wake may be a diamond in the rough but he is still largely unproven... now JP is comin of the best year of his career and was the leader of that defense... so i think it would be insane to get rid of him...

but then again you can never rule anything out so i dunno.. i guess it could happen, but anything can happen you know? and that is pretty unlikely..

would love to trade Porter if we could find a good taker of a good player or a 2nd round pick but his guaranteed money will hit us hard.

why would u love to trade him? i think he is worth more than just a 2nd right now neways

No, you do not trade Joey Porter. Cameron Wake is a nice signing, but he is still far from being a sure thing at the NFL level.

There is a difference between trading an aging player like Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. Jason Taylor did not want to be here and was more focused on becoming the next big thing in Hollywood while Porter still loves football and gives it his all.

A second and sixth round pick for Taylor was an absolute steal, and that was proved by his poor play this past year with the Redskins.

Yeah, on paper a second round pick for Porter may look good, but you can't just replace his 17.5 sacks and leadership. I know he can be a loudmouth sometimes, but he is a great leader to have for this defense.

A player like Taylor, who was not really a team player, can be traded away. However a guy like Porter is a guy you build championship teams around. Trading away Porter for any type of value would be a bad move. A VERY bad move.

For a second and fourth. Someone that feels that they are close (Packers) may go for him. He is at his peak and now would be the time to trade him.

Imagine what the Trifecta could do with 11 picks.

Good front offices keep their best players. Bad front offices trade them away.

I agree with nublar.

porter is now the heart and soul of the defense. a natural born leader, who just happens to be a great leader. perhaps one of the best the phins have had.

I don't see who we are going to bring in here from the second round who can step in, and give us the production AND leadership joey brings. I'm sure his sack totals will fall, as you can't expect a guy to put up 18 sacks year in and year out, but he brings a ton to the table.

I'm totally against trading him but I don't call the shots. Seeing as how we got a 2nd and a 6th for taylor, it would seem boneheaded on our part to settle for less than a 2nd this year, and a conditional third next year or something similar.

heres to hoping he stays in a phins uni.

i dont know the steelers have been quite fine without Porter. Porter is at his peak in value and he is a one trick pony although a very good one. Lets not forget Porter was on our team the previous year and we were 1-15 so lets not act like he had no part in that record. porter completely dissapeared the last three games so who is to say he will be as good this season. Any player is replaceable , it just matters if u can see the replacement. Obviously he can be replaced since Harrison is actually an upgrade. The problem is we dont have that replacement on our roster that we know of.

Leadership is so hard to judge. How come it only seems the guys that just talk a bunch of junk are looked at as leaders. After one season u say he is possibly our best leader ever lol. Wow. Not making fun of u but thats pretty far out there considering the guys we have had here.

other than zach thomas and bryan cox, who has been better in the last twenty years defensively?

do you really think we would be just as good off as the steelers if our miami defense lost porter? really?

never said that. I just said i would take a second for Porter. He was damn good at getting to the qb for the first 11 games this year but he is not getting younger and is not good at much else besides rushing the passer.
He will be 32 and in his last three years has been very average in 2 of the 3 so there is no guarantee that he will repeat this season. I guarantee we will be cutting him before his contract is up so why not get some value if u can. the problem is I dont think any team wants his contract
