Has anyone heard the rumor that the Steelers are considering trading Tommy Maddox and a 2nd round pick to Miami for Ricky Williams. I heard it on Sirius Radio.

I am not sure how good he would be as a starter but as a mentor for a young QB just out of college he may be a big help. It worked for the Steelers with Rothlisberger.

He could start for a year or if Nick decides to start a first round QB then he could be the mentor/backup. He has got to be better then keeping Sage :)
 
Haven't heard that rumor, but I wouldn't really be for it. First off, Maddox? :barf:

Secondly, the Steelers' 2nd round pick would basicly be a 3rd rounder. Miami is much better off looking for a trade elsewhere or just hanging onto Ricky for another year. I doubt Saban would ever pull the trigger on a trade like that.
 
Maddox did great with Mularkey as O.C. I think the possibility exists although I'm not for it either. I say Pittsburgh offers Maddox and their 1st for Ricky and a 3rd.
 
Send us the 2nd, keep Maddox, and throw in another pick (4th-5th) and I'll do it.
 
They shouldn't trade Ricky at all, especially for Maddox. Gus is better than Maddox and we'd be losing a great HB.
 
its not gonna happen pitts is gonan release maddox, and saban aint stupid to get a worse qb than ferrotte is.

Pittsburgh's third QB Tommy Maddox will be released this offseason.
His salary cap number is $1.1 million, outrageous for a third-stringer. He may have a hard time finding a team in need of an over-the-hill and ineffective retread
 
Just the 2nd plus a little more is fine with me.

Just my opinion, but it sounds like a rumor originated by Steelers fans hoping to get something for nothing. Maddox would certainly be no better of an option than Gus; c'mon now. If all we're looking for is a "mentor for a young QB", then Gus could certainly fill that role.
 
Maddox is done and I don't really care how well Mularkey worked with him years ago. I would be disappointed if this trade went through and I am for trading Ricky only for a good a deal though.

agree but id take teh 2nd cuz we might not even be able to pick up a 2nd later but if they are adding a 2nd and a QB then that means that rickys value is high or else they wouldnt add another item as to say for RW if he didnt have good value. if u see it that way then taht means we can get somethin good for RW. possibly a late 1st or early 2nd.
 
pittsy has the 60th pick? no way. i just checked. no thanks thats pretty much a 3d.
