It seems every year we do the same thing over and over, "oh we need this guy, lets trade this high draft pick for him", then next year or 2 years later its "we don't need this guy anymore, we need this other guy." We always end up giving away high draft picks and then getting rid of them year after year keeping us low on draft picks and with rotating holes to fill.

Before it was stills because mike actually took a stand against that giant derp philbin, now we have stills, young and very affordable it seems and we are trying to get julius for albert instead of just keeping albert and not paying 3m more a year for a guard in FA, thus likely letting stills go, getting one player for two, am I the only one confused with how this seems to happen year after year and we are always wondering why we constantly have holes to fill and no draft picks?

It's the second year with Gase. Things have changed.

Which high draft pick did we trade for a player that we released in a year or two? I'm not following. Not bashing your argument, I'm just confused. The only one I can think of is Brandon Marshall, who was a good player but a royal pain, and they traded him for picks.

Stills is very affordable? What do you consider very affordable?

Because actual contracts cannot be signed by either party until 12 March. In the meantime, agents are still at work trying to sweeten deals, while teams are still at work trying to find better players, or better fits, or cheaper players of approximate value to the team.

From now until 12 March is the golden era of the bottom-feeders in the media, those that float turds to see if they float...and maximize site hits in the meantime.

What high draft pick are we giving up here? Did I miss a "Mia trading 2nd rounder to ____ for ____" or something? Secondly, look at AB's history, he does not wish to play guard, it's a down grade in pay for him, the market is in need of LTs and he knows it, so he will get his paydays while still possible(not a damn thing wrong with that either, if somebody wants to pay you money on backend of playing days, go get that money big guy!). Just take a moment, collect yourself and look at the calendar, we aren't there yet.

To be honest, I don't know what you are referring to. However, when you have been as bad as we have been in the draft, you have to reach with trades and FA. Usually when you have to reach to fill holes, those reaches are temporary fixes to get you by. Our reaches haven't worked vey well unfortunately.

Agreed. Real world . . . the bottom 2/3s of teams HAVE to use FA. They have so many holes, 'building through the draft' would take 4-5 years IF things go right. And as someone has said, ALL teams build/replace, to an extent, through FA. Yeah, build through the draft as much as possible, but FAs are a fact of life.

What the heck happen in this forum? Someone threw a rock at someones Santa hat which made the Easter bunny upset, then he called Ross to tell him that little Gremblins are eating hotdogs and stepping on milk cartons.

That's what I got from OP's post.

Im not following...

Just build the team. Cut and trade whoever they need to. I like what im seeing so far. The albert/Thomas deal was perfect.
