I just wanna go out on a limb here and say that i disagree with this article on so many levels. I wanted to post my comments on their page but they havent switched over to their new comment format yet. First of all... he claims that miami's only two needs are defense and wr. Does he intend for us to have Julius Wilson starting at RT? Yea he mentioned Justin Smiley... but what about the other guard position. I find it hard to believe that Smiley will be able to play RG LG and RT all at the same time, I mean for the amount of money NFL players get paid nowadays it wouldnt be asking too much, but I highly doubt that it is in Miami's best interest. Next, he claims that Derek Hagan gets the nod at WR.... ummmmmmm who did we draft at #9 last year? Are you kidding me? He bashes the Chris Chambers trade and says that we are going to need to use that 2nd to grab a replacement reciever... What NFL GM dummy wouldnt have pulled the trigger on that trade? Ah... I know maybe Rick Spielman. Honestly... WR is certainly not one of our biggest needs right now, it can be addressed in the mid to later rounds or the second run of free agency.

Next thing that drove me nuts was his synopsis of the defense. He continues to complain as to how old we are, umm.... didnt this team just go from one of the oldest in the league to the 6th youngest? Yea it did... he musta missed that newsflash. I'm sorry we can't field a squad of all 21 year olds Mr. Bialy... but I don't think that would be in our best interest, you need to have some veteran leadership, and that comes in the form of the likes of JT, Vonnie Holliday, and Joey Porter. Who as Bialy continued to mention is on the decline of his career (joey porter). I guess he also missed the second half of last season when porter was a force, and will likely be even more so next year in the 3-4. Porter missed almost all of training camp due to injuries, you cant really blame the guy for not being all he is cracked up to be in the beginning of the season in a new system. With a full offseason of work under his belt in the 3-4, I expect Porter to be right where he left off 2 or 3 seasons ago. Praise for channing crowder? Maybe a year or two ago... now there should be nothing but questions as to whether he is really all we thought he was cracked up to be. Yea, he is a servicable MLB, but nothing special atm, maybe someday. Charlie Anderson is projected in the middle... not the outside in this defense. Not to mention the fact that Will Allen wasn't even mentioned as one of the key contributors last year.

"The current moves are more of a band aid for a team that needs stitches"
What did he want us to do in free agency? Waste all of our cap space and sign every big name we could conjure to visit miami. This guy is ridiculous, I'm sorry but I have no respect for this article at all. The only thing I mildly agree with him on is the fact that we have too many needs to stay in the first slot. But I highly doubt we will find a partner to get out of that slot with. Keep dreaming Mr. Bialy, you are better off doing that than writing about this team :(

Agreed. This article misses the boat. The two greatest needs are OT and G. After that, I would say CB/S then possibly an edge rusher particularly if JT is traded.

I say go and draft the best player on your board, and move on confidently with that choice. Simple....

Trading down may help add another body to your roster, but there's also more risk involved in regards to being able to draft the player you're targeting. Say we really want DE C. Long at #1, but we get a trade offer from Atlanta. If we take the offer, and move down a couple of spots, that's all fine and dandy for us until St. Louis changes their mind, and decides to take C. Long one spot ahead of us....

I personally like being in control when these types of situations present themselves on draft day. I don't like the thought missing out on a certain targeted player as a result of trading down. If I want that player, and he's going to be available at my initial spot, I stay put and take him....

PHINZ RULE!!!

On serius radio a couple of days ago they were talking about the Dolphins and the fact that teams with the #1 pick usually negotiate with their draft pick before the draft and have him signed prior to the draft. They said Miami hasn't said anything and are staying tight lipped about the pick.

Could this be because they haven't made up their mind or are they trying to make other teams worry that they are targeting the player that team wants?

No. It's because the draft is still a month and a half away. You start hearing about the team with the #1 pick negotiationg about 2-3 weeks in advance, max.

Despite his flawed arguments, I think we would mostly agree that trading out would be ideal. It's just that trading out is easier said than done. Unfortunately there's no single player that has risen so far above the rest of the pack to warrant other teams to look to trade into the first pick as of yet.

saying we must trade the pick, is like me saying "dating Salma Hayek is a must"

I agree with the fact that it would be ideal to trade the #1. However, I also agree with the comments of NyPhan23, I had the same reaction this morning when I read the article. If there is one area I would not touch this year in the draft is WR. LT, LG, CB, S, TE & QB are the one I believe need to be addressed. I wonder what Hugo Guzman, who writes for RF365 and is a FH member, thinks about it.

if atlanta is so in love with Ryan... take ryan #1 and see if they will trade their #3 amongst other things for him. If theyre gonna risk that we don't take him... then we should bring the trade to them. Worst comes to worst we have Matt Ryan... I see nothing wrong with that. Although Id rather have one of the Long's, preferably Jake.

NY, I also agree with you on this one. I have never like the RF365 guys anyways, because usually their articles come out after the issue is past for one thing and secondly, because it's really just a bunch of fans, not writers, who don't always know what their talking about as is the case with this article...hey Hugo..you can stop plugging them....(just joking, if you want to plug 'em, go ahead...I'll just continue not to read them..)

I've been hoping for this as well, but we have to be absolutely sure that Atlanta wants Ryan. It would really suck to take this risk only for Atlanta to take Brohm or a defender.

agreed.... i also heard a rumor somewhere that atlanta has been eyeing up some of the later round qbs... but again could be just another smoke screen.

I'm actually a chief editor at RF365, so I'll be dealing with the quality of this article immediately.

This is actually a new columnist for the Dolphins, and this was his effort.

Joe Mayes and I are the lead columnists for the team, and our stuff usually gets good reviews here and on most other Dolphins sites. You guys usually enjoy our stuff so I get very upset when weak articles like this come out.

And for those of you who chose to take cheap shots at me or the site, we have a base of over 20,000 daily readers and were recently featured on the NFL Network for a column on Jason Taylor. All of our writers are professionals and most of them write for daily papers throughout the country. We also have several published authors on staff.

I know that those of you who chose to condescend will probably continue to do so, and that's your loss, but I wanted to get the record straight on the quality and credibility of the site for those with a more open and unbiased mindset.

I'm not particularly in love with Matt Ryan, and I certainly don't think he is worthy of the #1 pick.
That being said, because of the moves that ATL has made this off season, I am convcinced the Falcons are enamored with Ryan and are banking on drafting him 3rd overall.
The Dolphins should take Matt Ryan 1st overall simply to trade him to the Falcons at #3 when their pick comes up. This way, we can pick up another 2nd rounder, maybe more, and still draft a player that is high on our board. The Rams are probably going to take Chris Long but I personally am in love with Gholston so if he was to be our pick, that would make me extatic. The other Long, or Sedrick Ellis will obviously still be sitting in our laps at #3 if this situation plays itself out, but I think Parcells is looking for a pass rusher.
In executing this plan, the Dolphins would be taking a calculated risk because there is a possibility that Atlanta will not be willing to cooperate, but I think the Falcons are way too desperate for a qb to play hardball. Besides, being stuck with 2 good prospects at quarterback is not a terrible problem to have.
