A lot is posted about the players that get the franchise tag, but does anyone have a list of the players that got the transition tag?

Nobody gets the transition tag any longer; it is no longer used. It's still there only because it is still part of the current CBA.

The reason the transition tag is no longer used is that a team that was trying to sign a player could write in specifics to a contract offer that the current team had no chance of matching. This happened between Seattle and Minnesota with Steve Hutchinson a few years ago. The Vikings included a clause in their offer that would make Hutchinson the highest paid offensive lineman on the team he played for. Seattle had no way of matching that offer based on the contract they already had with Walter Jones. The Seahawks turned around and made an offer to the Vikings' Nate Burleson that included a clause regarding how many games Burleson played in the state of Minnesota. Obviously that number is going to be different depending on if you play for the Seahawks or Vikings, but the CBA had not taken these clauses in to account when it was agreed upon.

Bottom line is that nobody uses the transition tag because another team can make an offer that includes an impossible-to-compete-with clause, and then that player can sign with that other team - with zero compensation in return (unlike franchise tags.) In other words, the transition tag is now useless - until or unless it gets revised in the next CBA.
