Just a thought here...I believe we will begin to see the waning of the Wildcat. While it will remain a part of the offense, it will not be the bread and butter it has been over the last 16 games or so. Why? Because we now have a QB with a live arm. We have a O-line that can run block with the best of 'em.
The Wildcat has been the best option for the Fins by taking advantage of our two best athletes, Ricky and Ronnie. To avoid the continued wear and tear on these two, the transition to a traditional offense with Henne at the helm is on the way. JMHO.

I disagree.

I think it's proven that it has its own merits, regardless of our other offensive options. It adds an extra blocker for otherwise straightforward running plays, and it creates a look that defenses must spend time preparing for.

Also, it makes Rex Ryan and Calvin Pace cry softly as they comfort eachother.

Just the opposite. The cannon arm opens things up more.

The Dolphins are committed to the Wildcat. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

You will see more and more wrinkles.

The reality of this formation gives us another blocker and allows us to maul other teams.

Wait until we play a defense that is a bit more inferior - ie. the Bills or even the Colts - we get the ball and literally exhaust the other team with play after play and pound them into the ground. This is like Deja Vu 72 - of course without the MONSTROUS defense.

If our D can step up a bit we have a contender. That seems to be a HUGE if right now.

But no the wildcat is here until someone shows it can be stopped consistently and honestly I doubt that is gonna happen because of our personnel and commitment to making it happen.

If Henne shows he can work with it and do what he has to do it will stay. If he struggles coming in and out im sure they will tone it down

I think you couldn't be any farther from the truth then you are right now. The Wildcat completely screws with teams, the effectiveness of it warrents it's continued use. You don't stop doing something that continues to give you an advantage over other teams, that makes no sense at all!

I'm not saying we'll get rid of it completely, I'm thinking we'll see less of it because of Henne's ability to go vertical. And for the record, I LOVE the Wildcat.

Yeah, the aqcuisition of Pat White in the second round would say otherwise. Wildcat is here to stay, until it can no longer work.

In the begining there was the run, then the evolution of the forward pass. I think the Wildcat might just be a whole new facet that will never be stopped. Wishfull thinking, probably. Possible, maybe

The wildcat is our identity on offense, it's what works best for us, look at how we played in atlanta, horrible, they barely ran the wildcat, last year in the playoffs Baltimore shut down the wildcat, how'd we look then, our offense looked great against the colts, bills, and jets, they used wildcat effectively in these games, the wildcat is our identity as an offense and it would be stupid to just abandon it

I think you will see the wild cat used about 25% or less per game or around 10-15 plays per game on average. The beauty of it is the defenses need to spend at least 25% of there game plan focused on the Wild cat.

Another key point was mentioned by Rex Ryan during halftime interview, He said something about not being able to duplicate the speed of execution that Miami runs the Wildcat in practice. In otherword, prepare all you want but it is not the same as defending against a team who is becoming more and more proficient at executing the Wildcat every week!

We already only use the Wildcat 10-15 times per game. Last week against the Jets we used it a record 16 times. Everyone thinks we use the wildcat so much. When its usually ran about 25% of the time.

The wildcat will stay because it works, it frustrates the defenses, and it allows for more success for our conventional offense because teams can spend less time preparing for that. I don't think we need to use the wildcat as a crutch, but it works so darn well and its just so much fun to use that I don't think there is any reason to switch.

It is not going to impair the development of Henne, but I do think that even though he came up big, we're not going to suddenly become a pass first team.

Maybe the wildcat will wane slowly over time as Henne's career matures, but as far as this season, I think you will see more and more and weirder and weirder stuff (as the games get more important).

Even if you're a purist and don't like new things (even when they help your team win), you still have to appreciate that the wildcat immensely reduces the pressure on Henne and eases his transition into the starting role. Just like the Jets defense eases Sanchez' transition. If the spotlight on the team can be on something else, the QB has less adversity to fight through early. While the early adversity and spotlight can build character, it can also crush a young QB's confidence. The Dolphins can protect Henne juuuuust the right amount with the Wildcat - for now, it's our team's biggest weapon and Henne's best friend.

I think the fact that we finally got to see White in at a crucial time in the game shows just the opposite. There are parts of the wildcat that we are just beginning to see. The evolution of the willdcat is just now starting to reveral itself. We will see MORE of the wildcat not less.

You tell any coach at any level that you are gonna give him a formation that is gonna give him nearly 7 yards a carry and it is gonna be consistant, (which is even more important than 10 no gains and one 70 yard gain) then there is no way he is gonna ignore it. It is gonna be his bread and butter. We will see more not less.

Tony and co. are a "pound the rock" type and the wildcat makes us just that.
