...is apparently SO CERTAIN that Daunte Culpepper will miss AT LEAST the 6 first games of this season.

It doesnt bother me that he makes these statements. It doesnt even bother me that he does zero research and his statement holds zero credibility.

But what does bother me is that his own network's reporter, Michael Smith, just issued a report several days ago from Dolphins insiders, saying they would be "shocked", if Daunte wasnt ready for TRAINING CAMP, let alone Week One.

How can he be so stupid? HIS OWN FREAKIN NETWORK IS REPORTING THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE!

And I am not one to start the "ESPN HATES US!" threads. That is not my point. My point is that this is not the first time I have heard him say something about Daunte not recovering in time for the season. The first time, I was peeved, but figured since we heard nothing recently, he had a right to his opinion. BUT NOW THAT HIS OWN NETWORK HAS REPORTED THE OPPOSITE, AND HE STILL SAYS THE SAME RIDICULOUS THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, I AM JUST BAFFLED BY HIS STUPIDITY.

End of Rant.

No, he said for argument's sake, assume it is 6 games. That number he just took from his head. BUT HE SAID, WITHOUT QUESTION, THAT DAUNTE WOULD BE MISSING SIGNIFICANT TIME.

Even upon mentioning Michael Smith's report, he laughed sarcastically saying something to the effect of "I think it would shock the medical people too!"

and what if he is right and Culpepper does miss the first 6 games......will you come back and start a thread how he was right and give him credit for sticking to his guns rather than changing his story due to a supposed "insider".

I'm not saying that Pepp WILL miss 6 games, or 1 for that matter.....but I won't say that he won't either. Who the hell knows. Those who say he will miss 6 games have as good a chance of being right at this point as though who say he'll be ready for week 1.

Look, thanks for playing Devil's Advocate... Awesome. But you miss the point completely. I would think ESPN would have the professionalism to at the very least produce reports that are consistent. If Michael Smith, a Senior Writer, makes a report from insiders about Daunte's health, then I certainly dont expect Trey Wingo to contradict it completely, having done no research and just sticking to the general consensus.

And I do realize that at this point, nobody knows, so then just be honest. Dont put up a graphic of our first 6 games, and look at Joey's chances of winning them.

They are under no requirement to hold to one point of view.......just because Michael Smith reported something...........doesn't mean that Trey Wingo has to swear to it.....or even believe it. I've heard hundreds of reports from "insiders" that turn out to be wrong. What MS reported wasn't ESPN's official stance on DC.....just what he was told. I don't see why everyone else at the station would have to then present it as fact.

There are plenty of people out there who are holding to stance that Culpepper will miss the first 4-6 weeks at least. Mike Golic is another one. I really don't see why it bothers you........when no one knows.........not TW or MG.....and not Michael Smith. Saban and Culpepper don't even know at this point.

I am not saying he has to believe it, or it has to be his point of view. But Smith is the only one who has based his stance on anything of substance, no matter how difficult it is to know for sure. It is not like this is a personal opinion type situation, in which case it would be perfectly acceptable for each ESPN analyst to have a view. Furthermore, if it is his opinion, then that should be made clear. Because for me, watching the show, if I didnt know better, I would think it was official that Daunte would be missing the first 6 games.

If you listen to the surgeon who did the work on DC, (Dr. Andrews) he also says that the injury is a "calendar year long recovery"...does that make him an idiot too ?? Wingo may be off some, it's possible he could return for the season start, but rather unlikely...if Saban was so sure about DC's return, why didn't he just wait out the 30 days or so and not trade for Joey ?? Folks who are so certain that DC will be ready could be in for a dissapointment come Sept...Is it screwy to think that DC can return 4 weeks ahead of schedule ?? (that would be late Sept.)...is it screwy to think that he could return 8 weeks ahead of schedule ?? (that would be in time for the first game, but no time in TC....) What some of these talking heads are saying is NOT so far fetched...What's being reported by Smith is conjecture at best anyway...don't get so riled up and set yourself up for a fall in Sept....

They have different opinions.Whats wrong with that ? You can make a valid argument for both points of views.

Many specialists on these type of injuries will tell you that it will take longer to fully recover from the type of injury Pep has than he thinks it will take.

Again, if nobody knows, then thats fine. But dont make speculation look like fact.

Well the thing is we have a decent back up. I feel allot better about the qb situation. We go from GUS and feeley to DC, and harrington. Two back ups to two starters as our qbs. Saban is awesome!

Breaking news: Trey Wingo is a no-talent dingleberry.

ESPN has awful sports coverage and even worse commentators. It has become a cross between MTV/VH1/BET/and a bad Saturday Night Live skit (I know, they are all bad). There is way too much nonsense and not enough sports.

I find myself screaming at the TV every once in a while "just show the damn score, who cares about 50 cent and his stupid crew". :tantrum:
