Anyone else out there who had some of their fondest memories of hell raising as a kid on Halloween night? Anyone else out there have a young son or daughter who you can't wait to take trick or treating? Anyone else out there hate that they have to DVR the game and not be able to watch it until you are done? Anyone else feel that not being able to watch the game in real time somehow changes how the game will turn out? Man I love/hate the DVR!

You can invest in a portable radio and listen to the game while walking around with your kid

Just a thought :read:
Since you're in Minneapolis and all Thursday games are broadcast nationwide, you can find it on a number of AM sports stations - just as long as the Timberwolves aren't playing :chuckle:

I'm almost glad I get to take my kids Trick or Treating tonight and miss part of the game....I sense disaster coming and would prefer not to witness it first hand.

The good news....I will get my pick of the candy that night as I eat and drown my sorrows after the 5th strait loss...

No kids. No worries.

I'll be handing out candy though!

i can probably pick the guys on this forum that will have the porch light off and the shades drawn tonight...

It's my birthday today. Fondest memories? Every birthday was a costume party. What could be better than that!

Still is. Most fun you can have out other than New Years Eve!

In my teens though we used to take bags of dog**** and tie firecrackers to them and set em off at the front door of neighbors we didn't like.

If you have Verizon you can watch the game on your phone. Then again, do the Dolphins deserve your precious data? :chuckle:

Tonight we will take the kids out for their fun and be back in time for me to turn the porch lights off, grab a beer, and tune in to the game!
Perfect timing, actually...

Don't get me wrong Hoops DVR has saved the marriage, it's just that I'm a slave to it.

I never thought about the radio or my Verizon phone but we go with a group of people/kids and I don't want to be rude. Plus we have a great time, we load up the flasks, bring some hot chocolate and schnapps in the thermos and get pretty loud. I actually always take the day after Halloween off of work because it's my favorite holiday and I tend to get pretty ****ty.

Candy from Halloween used to be so important to me I have even taught my son how to get more candy than the kids he's trick or treating with. The key is to always be the last kid at the door when in a group. Second you have to empty out your Halloween bucket every time it gets to being close to half full. This way the people giving away candy always notice that he has less candy than the other kids he is with and always give him a few extra pieces. What can I say, Dad needs his Kit-Kat/Twix fix!

Looks like I will be getting that candy fix watching a DVR'd game. At least I can FF the ****ty parts and go back to watch them later if need be.

i carry a double reinforced trash bag and they dump their bags into it every 10 houses or so...and lucky for them my neighborhood gives out full size candy bars...my kids also know what to grab and what not to...

i got em trained...

I had an interesting thing happen about 16 years ago on Halloween night.
My daughter was 10 at the time and we had just returned from Trick or treating.
We were sitting in living room and she was counting her haul.

At the time I lived in town in an older subdivision with limited space. My Ford pickup truck was parked out in the street cuz of limited driveway.
My house was halfway in a single block with stops on both ends and it was a 25 mph zone.

As my daughter counting we heard a terrible crashing sound. Sounded like an explosion.
I look out my front door and my truck is up in my neighbors yard about 35 ft from where it was parked
Also in the yard is a little Datsun 280Z. Two younger guys were returning from happy hour and decided to cut through my street.
Somehow they got up enough speed to move my truck that far. Must have been doing about 55 when they clipped the back of my truck.

Both guys weren't hurt but staggered out of car obviously drunk. Called the cops and had them taken away.

We were lucky as hell we decided we had enough candy and my daughter was in the house when this happened minutes after we returned.

Who in the hang goes drunk joy riding on Beggars Night?

It still amazes me to this day how far that little car moved my big truck.
