Hi all, I hope I am not clouding the main forum but I have seen other threads like this. I am bringing my family to Miami over the holidays. I have small children (ages from 7 to 5), so this is hardly a "go to clubs" visit. We are booked on South beach.

1.My main question is recommendations for filling our time in terms of sights, or cool restaurants.

2.Also, I am renting a car. Is there a place in the keys, whether a restaurant or great spot to see in a quick day trip from Miami. I suppose we could also do a day trip to Orlando or the space center if you guys think its feasible? Kids haven't seen the ocean so that is a priority.

3.Lastly, if you recommend a good car rental service on South Beach, I would appreciate it. I need a big SUV type thing so the family can move around in peace. There seem to be multiple vis' on Collins.

Thanks in advance to all my friends here.

I’d rent a car at the airport, any rental, services on the beach will be big$$. IMHO no reason to go to orlando, definitely bring dark shades so the wife can’t see you checking out all the ass walking around 😏For the kids, Miami seaquarium on Rickenbacker causeway, Key biscayne would be a good spot for the kids and theres a little beach next door to take a swim

You could go to Bayside Marketplace. From there you can take one of the guided boat tours to see the home of the rich and famous along with other sites like cruise ships.

Neat. I don't know Pelican Grand. If you want a great restaurant with good scenery go to Scarpettas at Fountainebleau and then go enjoy yourself at Liv. I don't think I've ever had anything as good as their polenta which I would personally pair with their braised Short Rib. Another great spot for a drink is the bar at Smith & Wollenskys which is RIGHT on Governemnt cut in the south of fifth section of Miami Beach (southernmost point). The cruise ships literally go right by the tables and it's fantastic for people watching. I've personally met Sean Connery there many years ago (I was cool enough to not ask for an autograph just a handshake and didn't wash my hand for a month). Just down the way if you don't mind greasing the Mater D's palm, is of course the all-world legendary Joes Stone Crab (no, this has absolutely nothing to do with Joe's Crab Shack). At the very least go to the bar and have a couple drinks and order the best key lime pie in existence. If you are trying to stay in Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood there is a fantastic restaurant named Gigi's which is literally ON the intercoastal. LOVE that place.

I'd uber. Valet prices are nuts and so is seasonal traffic which pretty much kicked off last week. It also allows you to have a better time and a couple of ****tails. I'd just buy tickets online. Uber to the stadium then grab a cab after the game to Twin Peaks and wait for the rush to die down then snag an uber to wherever you're heading. Have fun. Phins up.

If you make it to the middle keys you have to to Ziggy and the Mad Dog's. Mandich owned the restaurant which is all decked out with historical Phins photos. Another cool place (again in middle keys) is the Zane Grey bar on top of the Bass pro shop in Islamorada. I actually got to hang out with Gene Hackman who was sitting next to me totally unbeknownst to me.

An awesome spot to drive to in the keys is Islamorada Fish Company. 1st off driving out in the keys is awesome in itself. But this is an awesome restaurant right on the water - awesome views, and they feed tarpon in the middle of the restaurant over the water - your kids would love it - the tarpon fly out of the water - so you get a little combo of driving out to the keys and entertainment- food is great to. I'd also recommend the Lion Safari if you go north -it will be a ways from South Beach - in West Palm - but a very cool drive through Safari that our kids loved.

I always recommend going to lincoln road mall walking through it to the beach , renting a citibike and riding the beach walkway to southpoint park to take in the miami beach scenes with a view of the Miami skyline. Same day I will take people to calle ocho(little havana) and eat Vieja Ropa at Versailles or old havana . Also recommendnd going to bill bags park or a beach on Key Biscayne
