One scout, the Bengals' Greg Seamon, was quoted on a Web site ridiculing Troy Smith as an overhyped Heisman-winning quarterback who would flop in the NFL or not make it at all.

who knows man.
maybe the kid has mad heart.
doug flutie is a good example.
all that physical attributes , and wunderlick, and blah blah blah.
He deserves a chance, and will be given one...somewhere in the draft.
if we dont draft him ( which is highly likely), then who cares if hes a bust.
Drew Brees is short..arm aint that strong...etc etc but hes a WINNER(well, except for the title game, just like troy smith...uncanny huh?)...
AND THAT MEANS WAY MORE than some random scout donkey saying he cant play.

oh btw im a tarheel football fan, so i have no bias either way..

prove the critics wrong, god knows what the league would be right if all these scouts were always correct....im not saying im a huge troy smith fan and i am for drafting him but if he were around in the second round when we select i would support the decesion as i would support every decesion the franchise makes until proven otherwise bad

Ive been saying it for a while he reminds me of Dreew Brees, he didnt win the Heisman by a miracle....

I think I would take troy smith over brady quinn at this point. Quinn is already skipping this and that and he never showed up for the big games in his college career either. Troy smith loses a NATIONAL title game and he is considered a loser and a future nfl bust. Brady quinn wins all the games he is supposed to win and loses all the big games he's ever played in and he is a predicted nfl star. WTF???

I don't get it. time will tell, he will get drafted by somebody and than we will all know.

That is pretty accurate.......he isnt that good.

Troy Smith had a GREAT answer to the height question. He said, if a OL is 6'5 and a QB is 6'5, can the QB see over the OL? QB's throw in lanes NOT over lineman's heads.

Troy Smith = Drew Brees + Athletecism & Arm strength

Of course the Bengals aren't interested in him. He tested negative for drug use and is considered to be a relatively upstanding citizen. There is fear amongst the Bengals orginization that drafting clean cut players will disrupt team unity.

Many scouts, ESPN, NFL Network and Mel Kiper Jr. have touted Troy Smith to be better than Vince Young. Look what V. Young has done his first year in the NFL. Smith is an upstanding player with high character, athletic and great football skills, which will get him drafted either in the 1st round or early 2nd. One bad game his entire college career and everyone wants label him a potential bust, just not right.

I'd really step back from that statement.

Vince Young's combination of size, speed and overall athletic ability separate him into one of the top athletically gifted bodies in the NFL.

I think some analysts are just wanting to toot their own horn and predict the next VY. As much as I hated VY, he's proving to be the real deal.

Now, if they can just work on his passing.... or his destined for Vick's failure.

I'll be honest here and I'm sure I'll be flailed mercilessly for it but I'm not sold on Vince Young yet. Sure, he can run like a gazelle and has impressive arm strength but, as Bill Parcells once said, let's just hold on to that annointment oil for a while. Don't forget that there is another Qb in this league who runs like a race car and has unbelievabnle athletic abilities. He isn't having much success though.
