1 - Darius Butler, CB, UConn
Major need filled by one of the top CBs in a draft that's low on stud CB's. He'd eventually start for us as a rookie, if not on day one. I think Bill and Jeff really want to go LB here or trade down, but I don't believe their LB targets will be here and I usually don't like guessing on trades.

2a - Clint Sintim, LB, Virginia
Experienced in the 3-4 and can probably play inside or outside for us. I don't think he'll be a star, but he can be a solid starter. (Note: I'm projecting English and Barwin both being off the board prior to #44)

2b - Ron Brace, NT, Boston College
Brace may go earlier than this due to supply and demand, but if he makes it here this pick makes a lot of sense to me. Gives Ferg some series off as a rookie and starts for us in 2010.

3 - T.J. Lang, RT/G, Eastern Michigan
We need a backup OT in a major way. Lang could step in and start at RT if Carey went down or if Long went down and Carey was shifted to LT. Lang can also compete for playing time at G too.

4 - Jasper Brinkley, ILB, South Carolina
Takes over for Ayodele in 2010 if he doesn't beat him out in training camp.

5 - Davon Drew, TE, East Carolina
Good blocker, developing pass catcher. I see us taking a TE in this draft due to our heavy use of multiple TE packages and our 2010 free agents, but I had a hard time finding a spot where we'd take one any earlier than this. This is not a very good TE class.

6 - Dominique Edison, WR, Stephen F. Austin
What? No WR until the 6th round and it's some small school nobody? Yep, that's exactly what I think we'll do. Don't worry though, with my history picking who Miami will take this essentially locks up us taking Nicks or Britt at #25.

7a - Don Carey, CB, Norfolk St
I see us taking 2 corners in this draft and we've shown a lot of interest in this kid.

7b - Josh Vaughan, RB, Richmond
RB is also a position that we'll need help at in 2010 if not earlier. I like Jennings in round 2 or 3, but with our many needs that seemed too early to pull the trigger.

This draft would give us a major influx of young talent on defense and provide some interesting competition for our depth on offense. Feel free to tear it apart though :)

beginning is good. Brace will be gone IMO, there will be better T options in the 3rd than Lang, and we need a T/G with that pick, there are more versatile options IMO. Brinkley is solid. The end is lacking. I like Fiammetta the FB out of Cuse, and Tate or Boldin late.

Awesome draft, but not sure brace will be there or if Lang is the best guy avaliable there.

Sintim is more than likely going to play inside....he lacks the speed and agility to play OLB. So why would you take two potential ILB's?

The Lang pick is puzzling to say the least, but the rest is very nice!

Can you explain why that pick is puzzling? How many big, strong, tough offensive lineman with tons of experience that can play pretty much any position on the offensive line (except for perhaps LT) will be available late in the third round?

Lang is actually the pick I'm most comfortable with. He's a guy I see the Patriots snapping up and starting for them for the next 10 years.

Which OL are you thinking would be better than Lang late in the third round? I'm also not sure how you can get much more versatile than he is. He can play pretty much anywhere for us.

Obviously I don't share your opinion that Sintim could only play inside for us. He did fairly well on the outside at Virginia.

Of course, another possibility with that mock would be to put Ron Brace at 44 and go OLB at 56 with someone like Cody Brown. Like I said, I think Bill and Jeff would love to go OLB at 25 or at 44 if English or Barwin are still on the board.

I did say "more than likely" he'll play ILB. His straight speed is decent enough...but his shuttle and cone times show he's slow...going side to side.

That would be a great draft...I just hope guys like this are still on board. Love that General Tso chicken too.

Sintim led the nation in sacks as an OLB at Virginia in a 3-4 Defense there,so i'm thinking OLB will be the position he'll play in the NFL...and if we do draft him,i think OLB will be what he'll play for us as well...
