Tua is not that guy

Well which one is it though? The playcaller or how the defenses are positioned?

The quick passing offense was built to keep Tua healthy going into the '23 season. It was wildly succesfull, but defenses caught up and adjusted. Tua was going to run more and be more mobile into '24. Now, in '24 Tua gets injured again on a fairly routine play being "mobile", and now you are basically stuck in this place. You need to keep Tua healthy by getting rid of the ball quickly, but you can't pass down the field quickly because of how defenses have adjusted to defending zone passes.

You built an offense on speed and it can't be used. The Dolphins are lacking an identity.
It's both. The offensive play calling dictates how the defense is positioned. When you run a total of 12 times in an entire game the defense doesn't need to worry about it much.

GB is 8th in the league in run defense. Also, the score is going to dictate whether you need to pass the ball more.

Put Tua on Pittsburgh and they are unstoppable. Put him in Denver they are a contender, put him in Detroit they don’t miss a beat.
Denver appears to be happy with their QB, , weather would be a concern.

Detroit, Goff is better more physical QB, Tua would be useless in Chicago or Green Bay

Pittsburg , same the good weather would eat him alive .

Tua needs a dome or ideal weather to be reasonably effective .

BINGO

Tua has won 38 of his first 60 games, a .633 winning %. Looking it up now but I'd bet you that Marino had a higher winning % through his first 60 games than 63%. It didn't take him 5 games to dominate his position and become a great passer, much less 5 years. He did everything well as a rookie as opposed to Tua who still struggles with a lot of things that top QBs do well.

Dan had a career winning % of 60.7% and 147 wins. You think Tua is going to end his career that high or with anywhere close to that number of wins? You're delusional, son.

I don't think Tua is going to improve with age and not sure he'll get to 100 wins. dan struggled after the torn Achilles late in his career and the winning % dipped after 1994 or 95

Marino was an all time great, a first ballot Hall of Famer. The current guy isn't in the top 10 of QBs playing now.

I feel bad that you obviously didn't get to see him play because he is head and shoulders above every other QB who ever took a snap in a Dolphins uni.
Dude, Marino took over a team that had just made the Super Bowl with David Woodley. Just stop.

not by the end which is why it fell off
LOL. No. They fell off because they played strong teams. Teams that figured out the scheme. The line was always pretty bad.

Tua faces the least pressure in the league because he throws the ball so quickly. This is statiscally factual. I'm not sure why some of you struggle with this concept so much. McDaniel and Tua are not allowing anyone close to him in this offense or he's going to explode. This is #1, #2, and #3 most important things in this offense, and it'll always be limiting to the scheme

The phrase "Standing in there for the throw and taking the hit" are not words ever uttered on a Dolphins broadcast.

I'm not knocking the strategy, but it's just very much the reality of needing to keep someone so fragile playing.

I wouldn't say Tua was the only problem last night, but he did make some bad throws on more than a couple key downs. And he seems very averse to throwing the ball away, when he most certainly should.

The line wasn't spectacular, I mean Armstead got burned a couple times, but there were times when Tua had all day. They weren't horrible.

That muff by Washington was really bad.

The Packer RBs are good, and our guys couldn't tackle them. Dodson stood out in that regard.

But yeah, those bad throws by Tua on key downs were definitely a factor, and I knew it was coming, because it was a prime time game in the cold.

It's not binary. Tua is one of multiple problems we have and I think most of the other problems are bigger, the biggest being coaching IMO.

A good question would be; if our other problems were not limiting, would Tua be the guy to take us to a championship? I think no because he struggles in the big moments and his judgement and decision making is flawed. It's a temperament thing.

I suspect we'll never know the answer though because we'll never get enough of the other problems fixed!

I mean the Qb throw for 300 yards and 2 TDs while the rest of the team was having indigestion
You crediting Tua with a defensive tipped ball for his second Td and more than 60% of those passing yards coming with about 7 minutes left in the game and the score 30-11, with the Packers playing prevent D? 😂

Go watch the highlights and tell me how many big time throws Tua had like the one Love threw to Reed to give the Packers their 1st score of the game. Another Tua STAT guy!! 🤦

The revisionist history regarding Marino is nutty at times. Not to pile on, but I don’t recall Dan dropping shotgun snaps week in and out either. I’m willing to bet Tua already has more of those than Dan had for his career.
