When Tua Tagovailoa is in the red zone, he’s been absolutely money. On the season, 36% of the passes he throws there result in touchdowns.

That ranks No. 1 in the NFL this year. And is the best season for any QB since 2020 (minimum 30 attempts). His success rate (56.8%) is No. 1 and his expected points added per attempt (+0.42) ranks No. 2.

Tua's percentage of incompletions due to inaccuracy is fourth-lowest of 56 qualifying QBs over the last two years.

But if you strip away individual seasons and look at all QB stats accumulated since 2000, you’ll find that Tua currently ranks first in touchdown rate (31%). And among 112 QBs with at least 100 red-zone attempts since 2000, Tua’s career ranks:

  • No. 1 in success rate (49%)
  • No. 1 in touchdown rate (31%)
  • No. 1 in third down conversion rate (48%)
  • No. 2 (second-lowest) in sack + interception rate (4.6%)
  • No. 3 in completion rate (61%)
  • No. 5 in first down rate (36%)
  • No. 11 in EPA per dropback (+0.17)

There's more about the 49ers redzone defense, redzone stats/trends around the league etc.

I thought he was a worthless QB who couldn't finish the game?

And that the mighty Texans were conducting some 30 point comeback?

Interesting how a few days and the Nawledgable fans are already flip flopping....

So, just curious, what was it about the OL play with Armstead out that gives you hope for next game? I saw an absolute train-wreck of a squad doing everything they could get land our QB1 in the hospital.

Establishing the run with a healthy duo of Mostert and Wilson will do wonders in not putting those guys in compromising situations.

But to the point of this post, I was making light of some rhetoric OP assaulted the Game Day thread with.

I forgot how many times last year I yelled at the TV say WTF is this coaching staff doing? They couldn't even read basic split stats or analytics. Got one of the best RZ QBs in the NFL. What should we do, I know let's bench the QB and run wildcat. Fing clown show last year of coaching.

Yes, yes you did.

I'm collecting receipts just like the QB.

I saw that to and he went on and on about it

One of the things that I really appreciate about McDaniel and his staff is that they will not put a player on the field who isn't ready or willing to go. I also think that we have one of the best conditioning staffs in the league, which prevents a lot of injuries and shortens minor bumps and bruises.
Yes, it's frustrating sometimes (Byron), but those players respect the Hell out of things like that, and will run through a wall for a coach who has their back in those situations.
That being said, I hope to god that Terron gets patched up quickly because as injury prone as he appears to be, I suspect that he plays through more injuries than we ever hear about. We are gonna need him for this final push to the playoffs.

I think game day threads are for highs and lows w emotions and venting too. I’ve said things in there that I don’t really believe - like “this guy sucks” or “bad call” etc - if we all sat in a room together and watched a game the same kinda thing would go on but the context probably feels a lot different.

I agree a lot of mixed emotions going on for sure. Just wait till we lose a game.

Great point. The staff philosophy is very different under MCD. They do give players some opportunity to gain experience in limited roles as shown by the small number of snaps given to Tindall. They are not throwing unprepared players out there, but they have not completely ignored young player development.
