The first thing that really stood out today was Tannehill's pocket presence. I really felt that the way he moved around in the pocket today was the best I have ever seen from him so far. He saw where the blitzes were coming from, he climbed the pocket better than I have ever seen him, and he got out of the pocket when the situation called for it. I have always felt that the biggest weakness in his game is his feel for manipulating the pocket. I think a lack of playing experience is probably the biggest reason for it. It takes many years of playing the position to learn the nuances of the game. If he can build on what he did from the pocket today , the sky is the limit. The second thing that stood out was how much the change in Tannehill's cadence from last year has helped the offense. They are actually able to draw the defense off-sides occasionally. No more of that stupid "Go - Go Go". Geniuses like Omar didn't think it was a big deal though.

Really, he's played very well since the Oakland game w a couple poor halves in there. But overall he's developing into a very good player at the position. I've been critical but he's had a nice stretch going. Gotta keep making plays and extending plays and being smart w the ball.

I've also noticed he's starting to get good at pump faking. On that TD to Matthews, the defense bit on a pump fake and allowed Matthews to break wide open. He did a similar thing in the Chicago game, pump fake and caused a d-lineman to jump for the ball and then he had a sweet sidearm pass around the defender.

I am left wondering if Marino hasn't helped with Tannys pocket presence as of late. Dan was on of the best at sliding away from pressure and I wouldn't be surprised if Dan hasn't pointed out a lot of things in the film room. Obviously Tanny still has to execute and deserves all the credit for doing so, but seems like the light has turned on since Dan started helping out

100% agreed...pocket presence markedly better (agreed about Marino probably a big help there). no more go go crap... Dude is so good on the move... Didn't have to endure watching Trusnik suck on the defense.

Yeah I too have noticed a lot more pocket awareness. If he can get better at the deep ball we might have ourselves the QB for the future, and the present.

Pocket awareness and good o line play go hand in hand, it's not a coincidence that better line play affects your perception of pocket awareness.

He is also doing better at creating time for himself and eluding pass rushers.

He also isn't staring down one reciever anymore.. He goes thru his progressions and check downs much better..

You could clearly see him go through his reads consistently today. I think he is much more comfortable in the pocket and with the improved line play, RT's confidence is growing.

Hard to manipulate a pocket when there isn't always a pocket to manipulate. Let's face it, San Diego doesn't have a very good interior D-line. Corey Luiget is their best D-line player and they neutralized him today. Next weed will be a much different story with the D-line from the Lions. Much, much tougher blocking assignments. Not taking anything away from Tannehill as I've said when the line blocks for him he is very accurate and does a great job but the Lions pose a very tough matchup for us next week.

His pocket presence IMO looked better because the oline played really well today. Any QB will look good or bad depending on the oline play.

the other big thing I see this year in his game is the running, which is due to the change in offense philosophy. If he can get pocket presence + running ability + deep ball connection with wallace, the sky will truly be the limit.

Tanne made some slick moves in the pocket today, man. Moment I saw him sidestep someone I just shouted YES!!! THERE ya go....
Also that pump-fake that totally threw off 2 defenders o nthe TD pass to Matthews -- that was so pro.

Big progress today, can't wait to see more.
