When I saw that he did not get drafted I was kind of taken aback. I know he came from a small school, but he was one of the better OL in the draft at his position. I think he could either play OG or OC. I pulling for him to make the club.
Tyler Larsen more than caught on to offense, he thrived as an offensive lineman and became one of the best in the country.

While Cody played at FCS school Southern Utah, Tyler performed at FBS Utah State, the same school that produced Dolphins 2013 third-round pick Will Davis.

Tyler Larsen was nothing short of dominant at Utah State, earning first-team all-conference honors the last three seasons — twice in the WAC and once in the Mountain West after the Aggies switched conferences.

Larsen even earned second-team All-American honors from USA Today last year and was one of six finalists for the Rimington Trophy, given to the top center in college football. He then turned in an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl, where he was one of the rare interior offensive linemen who wasn’t dominated in practice by defensive tackle Aaron Donald, the eventual 13th overall selection in the 2014 draft.

Bottom line: Larsen’s credentials rivaled, if not surpassed, those of the 10 centers selected in this year’s draft.

[h=4]Bottom Line[/h] Big, experienced, wall-off zone blocker with a ceiling as a serviceble starter, though questionable versatility detracts from his appeal in a league offering few center-only spots. Has to be a masterful technician given his short arms and pedestrian athleticism.

We may need a back up center if Pouncy has to miss a few games early on. This guys might be a keeper.

probably will have to show guard versatility to stick on the 53...stout can anchor but average at best move athlete and with those short arms may be a center only...if he doesn't show he can play guard you probably have to cut him for a more versatile option...and it's not like the p squad will do anything about the physical limitations...doubt he'd beat out a garner for instance head to head just cause of the versatility as depth

still...surprised he didnt get drafted very late...

I actual think Larsen, who can also play some guard, has more promise than Sam Brenner. I think he has a great shot at making the practice squad and a decent chance of making the 53-man roster.

garner for instance head to head just cause of the versatility as depth

garner cant beat anyone out and we have had nothing but piles of steaming poo on the line.

if this kid cant at least give garner a run for his money he needs to get the boot. this whole o-line from starters [ala pouncy, for now] and the so called depth has needed churned for a while.

looks like hickey is doing just that.

i never said i wanted garner to make the team...ideally we upgrade not only the starting 5 but the depth but it's pretty important that the depth you keep be able to play multiple positions if need be...

i wouldnt be keeping anything interior depth wise that could only play center for instance...not when i got options that can play any interior position or even spot right tackle in a pinch...

you're only gonna keep 7 or 8 lineman anyways and preferably no one that gets an auto red shirt cause you screwed the pooch...at least it feels like we won't have to do that this year

Why did he go undrafted? Seems pretty solid, I get the small arms, but undrafted seems a little harse just because he has stubs.

I don't think his "stubs" will be as critical at his position. He did the most reps of 225 at the combine I believe.

I like Larsen. He wasn't my favorite C in the draft but I think he can make a roster. He has enough agility and technique to be competitive at an interior position and enough drive to generate some push on short yardage. He plays with good leverage.

Many of the top C's in the league do it with more smarts, savvy and technique than with long levers, lateral agility and heavy hands.

I hope Larsen makes the roster, because a savvy C makes his OL more than just the sum of its parts.
