Are there any opionions on if we have anything in this former Notre Dame RB. I think he may have the abiity to stick on the PS for now and possibly be used in combination with Miller in the future. Any thoughts.

After tearing his ACL in November, I think Jonas Grey will end up on the injured reserve/physically unable to perform list. This will give him a full year to recover and we will see what he can do in 2013.

Here's some tape on Gray. No. 25

I had a draftable grade on him in the late rounds and figured he'd probably get drafted in that range. The knee injury as a Senior, and history of knee injuries/durability issues throughout his career pushed him down to UDFA status.

He only produced as a Senior and has only had 2 games in his entire career carrying the football over 15 times... both came this past season.

Needs to learn how to pick his feet up and run with high knees to avoid getting tripped up by shoestring tackles. Needs to run the net or tire drill in practice until it sinks in.

Hits the hole hard and got his shoulders north/south as a Senior better than he did at any point in his career. Legs go dead on contact more often that you'd like to see out of a back with that powerful of a build. Should be better than what he is.

Guys this young in their career I don't think you worry about a simple ACL tear endangering them to the point you worry they'll ever return to pre-injury form.

I'd be more concerned about his game and having him improve the issues he has. I've talked before about his tendency to get shoe-stringed, tendency to stop his feet on contact at times (though that got markedly better with experience as the year went on). Has almost no instincts/competency in the passing game either blocking or catching. Those would be the things to worry about, not so much the injury IMO. Considering how gruesome the hit looked on replay, he was walking all around the sidelines with no help saying goodbye to everyone. I think he's a tough guy.

Once he recovers from the injury I'm pairing him up with Lamar Miller as my tandem at the position long term, so long as Miller toughens up a little bit and proves up to the task. I think those two make a great pair, just as Cierre Wood and Jonas Gray made a great pair this year for the Irish. It's thunder and lightning, but with a yin yang twist. That thunder's got plenty of lightning in the tank and that lightning has a surprising amount of thunder at times, and both are awash in patience for letting holes develop.

I can't recall where but I read an interview with I believe his father where he was saying we have told him that we would be patient with him and allow him to rehab his injury. I wouldn't expect to see him at all this season, and they will probably put him on IR and hope he can come into camp next year 100%

Watching that YouTube video, he reminds me of Ronnie brown with a little more breakaway speed. Looks impressive.

i dont think he will overcome dt on the roster. dt is a more shifty shifty back, better blocker, and can contribute in the passing game. gray should and will probly start off on the pup then the ir, which is for he best

If you're looking for YouTube of Jonas Gray, I put this together. It's his 2011 season with the exception of a few games...about 84 touches.

I said former interesting dolphin Cecil Collins!
Ck says the jets Shonn Greene

Somewhere between a Shonn Greene, Thomas Jones and Michael Bush.

The more I watch him the more I have to agree with you. Cecil was much more powerful and explosive this guy at his size seems to lack power, But he does seem to have a second gear once he gets in the open.

I don't recall Cecil Collins being all that great even when he did take time off from his busy schedule of jacking off in front of married women to play football.
