Seriously I cannot believe what I am reading about Henne. The guy hasn't really thrown into any kind of role yet and because of what you have seen in preseason and a half of a game against a playoff caliber team, people are going crazy over his mechanics (really how much of you know ANYTHING about qb mechanics other than what you mentally copy and paste off of what someone said on sportscenter or the NFL network??), his intangibles, etc.

Simply put, we haven't seen enough of him in a regular season NFL game to make any kind of determination. Put away your madden controllers and step away from the wanna be armchair qb analysis that somehow you think your going to be the next Sportscenter analyst and get real for a second.

If I remember correctly, didn't rivers have funky mechanics that was being complained about? How did that turn out. I think there was even a knock on Brees when he came out of Perdue about his throwing "ability". What about bernie kosar. OMG he threw sidearm.

Seriously, get off your wanna be madden educated, NFL network playbook stealing knowledge and give the guy a chance...

Oh wait, you don't have a choice really do you....

damn people....

Excuse me.. Blind faith isn't what most of us have. It's called being realistic. henne is next in the crosshairs. You dumped all over Pennington.. over and over. Now you got your wish.. Now deal with how people really feel about Henne. Some don't share your opinions.

This preseason was horrible. His play Sunday hardly makes you feel all fuzzy inside. Oh I know how you'll say give it time.. one more game.. or how it was a receivers fault. Henne will be in for the season. we'll see what he's all about. But he wasn't a 1st rd pick.. so don't expect him to be a Flacco, or a Sanchez.. or even a Stafford.

He is what he is... and soon we'll all know exactly what that is.

Listen, friend. Madden says that Chad Henne has A potential. That means he's awesome.

I liked Pennington, but everyone and their brother knew he couldn't stretch the field which ultimately hurt our running game. With Henne, he brings an element of the unknown. Will he be good/bad is yet to be determined, but he has the ability to stretch the field which could open up our running game even more. Nobody in their right mind can evaluate Henne based on what he's shown so far. People say he sucked in preseason, well he didn't exactly play with 1st string receivers either. Right now the only receiver we have worth mentioning is Bess. Let's give the guy a few games to settle in before we evaluate him

Uhhh.... don't you know that we're all football experts here? I mean we have watched a ton of football on tv so that obviously means we're more than qualified to make player evaluations. It's truly baffling that the coaches and front office don't read these message boards and do whatever we say.

Well it can't be any worse than 0-4, which is what we are in the last 4 games under Pennington.

Personally i dont consider myself to be on his "bandwagon." There are several positive indicators that this young, 2nd year QB could develop into the next Trent Green (Trent Green of KC, that is). Unfortunatley, our team has had really bad luck with QB's since Marino, with Penny being the best one.

In terms of being realistic, we cant let ourselves fall too far either way. Not too optimistic, or pessimistic for that matter.

Your right - he is what he is. A 2nd year QB who has shown a tendency to stare down receivers. HOPEFULLY, he can outgrow this. How fast this occurs will determine the course of his career.

Aside from that, some of the positives he possesses includes (in no particular order)

1) A cannon for an arm
2) solid work ethic
3) 1 year on the bench to familiarize himself with the system and coaches
4) very mature degree of pocket presence (did you guys see how he shook a defender and broke a tackle last week?)
5) And last but most definatley not least, the endorsement of football guru Bill Parcells and his staff.

And frankly, if B.P. didint draft the kid i'd probably be sweating bullets on us picking a QB with a high pick for the 4th year in a row.

The number one assumption that i see people make, and yes this one is really stupid, is that everyone assumes that rookie or 2nd year Henne is capable of doing ALL of the things that Chad Pennington is, and then some.

This is obviously not the case. Penny has what sooooo many physically gifted QB's in the NFL dont possess, and that is a brilliant football mind that allows sufficient compensation for his physical shortcommings. This is somthing that determines whether somone pans out in the NFL or not, and its not somthing that is aquired over night.

The reason that i was so ecstatic, and still am for that matter, that Chad Pennington is here is that Henne, with all of his tools, has the ability to learn from, in my opinion, one of the most qualified individuals. I PRAY that Penny's traits would rub off on Henne.

The other thing that pisses me off is how everyone assumes that because all of these other teams that are loaded with offensive talent aside from the QB position alone are having success with their young QB's it automatically translates into us having success with our young QB's....Ladies and gentlemen this is a fallacy and if you dont get over it soon, its just going to bring more disappoint.

Heres to wishing Henne the best.

you're vs. your?

That is a product of text messaging. I am not going to find an apostrophe in the sub menu's of my cell phone.

If you're second guessing my education, I wouldn't. I have a doctorate in pharmacy.

Back on topic, if that is you're only beef with my post.....

No offense but NONE of us on the forum are even remotely qualified to break down an NFL quarterbacks mechanics and even give ANY kind of advice on how to "fix" them.

Secondly, I have never been a basher of Pennington other than the fact that I, like most on this forum, will agree that the guy has arm issues due to previous injuries.

You talk about opinions on Henne at this point? Opinions? If ANYONE on this forum had an evidence based objective opinion that wasn't the result of some knee jerk reaction to how the TEAM played in the preseason or him being put in a terrible spot against SD, I would LOVE to hear it with examples to back up their opinion. Simply stated, the guy hasn't played enough.

Hell, we have a thread talking about the dudes throwing motion with a still frame of it in some funky pose. I mean are you serious?

Bottom line is that Henne may or may not pan out. That is what happens in the NFL and with many a player. Give the guy a chance before ripping him apart.

People who want to claim that Henne is going to be a bust need to stop typing. If you don't have anything positive to say about the QB that Bill Parcells and co. picked for the future, then don't say anything at all.

Because I really don't think you or anyone else on here has more football knowledge than Bill Parcells. So shhhhhhhhh.

Yea right pretty poor post on your part regarding 0-4 for a guy the week before was 11-5. You must be in blind love with Henne.
If Henne will quit throwing interceptions every game then maybe a few more phins might feel a bit more confident about the kid.

Man don't you know that I am qualified to build houses because I watched bob villa all these years?

That is basically what some people think about watching football. Awesome man you have your 51" HDTV and you have been a Sunday Ticket subscriber since Jesus was born and yet you THINK your qualified to even break down tape properly, let alone take a young inexperienced qb and turn him into the next Marino...

I mean it is all fun when you can push reset on your "create a player" on your PS3 when it doesn't pan out for you but seriously people need to stop and realize in the grand scheme of things, you only know what basically happens during a broadcast of a game and what information your privileged to ascertain from people who DO work with the team and share during broadcasts.

Outside of that, we are all clueless unless you have legit inside ties which I would say that 99.9% of those on here don't have and the 0.1% that do, are contractually obligated to NOT share them.

So, armchair scouts do us all a favor and don't quit your day job. It is one thing to be objective in giving us examples of past performances and some evidence to back up that Henne is ALREADY a failure, and completely another to bash a guy that has 1/2 of a game under his belt, of which, he wasn't even prepared for.

I am not in "love" with the guy. I am a michigan fan and liked what I saw in college. He came from a good system in HS and college. Maybe he pans our or maybe he doesn't. However, unlike many it appears, I am not going to crucify the guy until the end of the season if there is no progression. At worst, maybe he can be a serviceable backup. I know a high draft pick for a backup but teams need good backups.

If Henne doesn't succeed and we trade or draft for another qb, the negative posts about that guy will start if he farts after eating taco bell.
