ummmm....why in the heck is daniel thomas on the kickoff team?!?!

So I watched some of the TB game last night before I went to bed and I noticed that Daniel Thomas was flying down trying to make a tackle on the kickoff coverage team and I was absolutely mind boggled. What if he had gotten hurt and we were left with an injury prone reggie bush and a washed up larry johnson as our running backs? I mean seriously how stupid could the coaching staff be? you dont put one of your staring running backs on the kickoff coverage team, are they seriously that dissapointed with this kid that they're gonna just religate him to the kickoff team? seriously between the columbo and carey mess and now this, some of the decisions this coaching staff make drive me nuts!! I really hope this was some type of one game thing because this is not a smart move at all!!!

Vontae Davis stats as well
 
Well I am guessing the last back on the depth chart has special team duties...So I am assuming Lex Hillard would be next man in..If Thomas cant beat out Hillard we are in trouble..
 
This is what happens when you get drafted in the 2nd and are not impressive at all. Coach has to get you some playing time.

I think people need to wait till the regular season to start panicing. This is the time coaches experiment and tinker. Not all the players are going 100% right now.
 
Hilliard was out, and Larry Johnson doesn't play special teams.
 
He's trying to earn a spot... obviously it won't be at starting RB
 
maybe because they see him as expendable..
LJ can do what he does
though thomas looks more fluid in the pass game they have reggie for that

i dont think they draft dt if they had bush before draft
 
for some reason I don't think we will be running much lol
 
The bigger question is why is vontae on special teams?! Maybe with the new kickoff ball placement they are less concerned about returns. Doubtful but Davis shouldn't be out there at all.
 
you could make an argument that davis is the most important player on the team
you lose a guy like that and teams would be putting 30 on us every other week..
